My mom says my wedding guest outfit is ‘too attention seeking’ – now I’m second-guessing myself & thinking of switching
A WEDDING guest is rethinking her outfit choice for the matrimonial affair after getting an unsolicited opinion about her formalwear.
The style conundrum came after her mother said the look was “too attention seeking.”

Redditor Honeyofthestars dished on her wardrobe woes on the social media platform.
She shared a photo of the outfit in question while seeking the advice of other users.
“Is this appropriate for a semi-formal wedding?” she asked.
“My mother says it’s too attention seeking because it’s bright red.”
CROWD REACTION
The outfit was a one-piece red jumpsuit with a halter-style neckline.
Several Redditors expressed their thoughts on about the look in the comments section.
“I love it,” one wrote. “My grandma is from an era and small town where she thought red was an awfully bold [color] to wear.
“I had to dress down quite a bit when I visited, but this would be perfect for the weddings I’ve been to.”
“I’d love a guest to wear this at my wedding,” another added.
“Depends on how traditional the wedding is overall, so if there are guests you can run it by, that seems like a good idea, but I think you’re fine.”
“Opinions on red at weddings differ a lot by circle,” a third commented.
“Personally, I think it’s lovely and I like bright colors at weddings. Maybe run it by other invited guests.”
“This is fabulous,” yet another said.
“I would be so hyped if this was worn at my wedding. Classy, unique, and a great color.
“I am super over this ‘red to a wedding is taboo’ unless it’s an Indian wedding et cetera. where the bride and groom wear red traditionally.
“It’s a very dated antiquated concept.”
“Don’t wear white because that’s what the bride wears,” one more wrote.
“Don’t wear black because that’s for funerals. Don’t wear red because it’s attention-seeking. I could go on and on.
“With all due respect to your mother, I think her view is a little off base.
“Red is a great color and I’ve seen it more and more at weddings.
“As for the style, that depends on the venue.
“Personally, I think you could accessorize this really nicely to make it just that more dressy.”
