The celebrity world is jampacked with award ceremonies, film sets and exclusive parties with plenty of opportunity for unlikely love to blossom.

Earlier this month British actress Talulah Riley and Love Actually star Thomas Brodie-Sangster shared beautiful pictures from their wedding.

This led fans to share their shock at the odd pairing, with many never imagining the two together until that moment.

But they are certainly not the first couple to leave the public reeling after revealing their relationship.

From Cher and Tom Cruise’s fling back in the 80s to Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner’s discourse-sparking romance, there have been plenty of wild couples over the years.

But what about the ones who made it all the way to the altar?

Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford

Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan and Mumford and Sons star Marcus Mumford have the sweetest origin story after first meeting at a Christian summer camp as kids.

After losing touch, fame brought them back together in 2011 after Carey reportedly attended a Mumford and Sons concert. Just five months later they were engaged.

Soon after they celebrated their wedding with a star-studded ceremony in Somerset including Jake Gyllenhaal and Colin Firth.

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody

The Gossip Girl and O.C. star were some of the most well-known TV actors in the 00s, helming two popular US teen dramas.

The private pair met on the set of the 2011 film The Oranges and shared their surprise love story with the world in 2013 – the same year they got engaged.

Adam has previously described his wife as the ‘strongest, best person’ he knows. In 2019 he reflected on everyone’s reaction to Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen falling in love.

‘It’s not bizarre. To be perfectly honest, it was a little embarrassing. I guess love knows no bounds?’ he told GQ.

Last year, Leighton opened up further about their connection.

We’re super, super lucky, and I think we recognize how lucky we are with one another. We give each other a lot of respect and time and attention and focus. Like, really put our time and energy into a relationship,’ she told E! News.

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz

British acting royalty Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz have largely kept their relationship away from the press making it easy to forget they are, in fact, happily married.

They first met as budding actors in the 90s when they starred opposite each other in Les Grandes Horizontales at the National Theatre.

Years later they met once again and sparks flew. They eventually tied the knot in a secret ceremony in 2011.

Although they rarely discuss their romance in public, Rachel told The New York Times in 2018 that she is ‘very happy being married.’ They had their first child, Grace, shortly after but little else is known about her.

Dave Franco and Alison Brie

This cute Hollywood couple met during Mardi Gras in New Orleans in 2011 through a mutual friend.

When they all got dinner together, both decided to hook up. ‘He was like, “I’m in!”. It was 48 hours of drugs, sex, a lot of making out,’ she recounted to Jimmy Fallon in 2020, according to the Independent.

They also shared a romantic date in Paris where they cemented their love by clasping a lock with their initials on it to a bridge.

After the 21 Jump Street actor proposed to the Community star at California’s Big Sur the couple eventually got married in an intimate wedding ceremony in 2017.

Alison told host Andy Cohen that their ‘wedding vows’ were her favourite part of the special day.

Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz

Much like Daniel and Rachel, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz first met in the 90s before reconnecting years later on the set of Vicky Cristina Barcelona in 2007.

Once more, they secretly married in 2010 and share two children together, Leo and Luna.

Although the couple are notoriously private, they have spoken about their deep love for one another with the press.

In 2012, the Little Mermaid star told GQ that he is ‘happily married.’

‘I breathe and stay in peace. I truly thank whoever’s up there for giving me the opportunity to be loved,” he continued.

Rose Leslie and Kit Harrington

The Game of Thrones co-stars shocked everyone when they got together (Picture: Getty)

Although Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie made global headlines after making their relationship public, their story is so fairytale-esque it’s easy to forget it actually happened.

The pair naturally met while filming Game of Thrones in 2011. In the show their characters, Jon Snow and Ygritte were lovers and clearly this chemistry transcended screens.

After tying the knot in 2018, Kit spoke about how the show changed his life during the Emmy awards that year.

‘I met my wife in this show, so in that way it gave me my future family, and my life from here on in,’ he said at the time. ‘That’s the main thing it did for me, and it’s changed it completely.’

Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix met on the set of Her in 2012 in which, ironically, Rooney plays his ex-wife.

After getting engaged in 2019, the couple welcomed their first child just a year later and named their son River after Joaquin’s late brother.

They have kept their relationship far away from the limelight, meaning the only confirmation we have that they are likely married is after the Oscar-winning actor referred to Rooney as his ‘wife’ in an interview.

They are now expecting their second child.

Taika Waititi and Rita Ora

Although British singer Rita Ora and Hollywood filmmaker Taika Waititi feel like they exist in completely different worlds, they have been married for two years.

Although they have kept their budding love story under wraps, we know the pair met in 2018 thanks to a since-deleted Instagram post from 2022 that said they met four years prior.

But they first caught public attention in 2021 after a sweet photo together. After that, they attended several high-profile events with one another, all but confirming a romance.

On the Greatest Night Ever podcast the Let You Love Me hitmaker said about her partner: ‘I’ve always wanted the fairytale, that’s what I grew up loving. For me, it was always about that love, finding a partner, so I’m really happy I did.’

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton

Their lives changed when they met on The Voice (Picture: AFP)

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton had a truly unconventional love story after meeting as judges on The Voice in 2014, divorcing their respective partners and finally dating a year later.

In 2016, Blake told Billboard: ‘Gwen saved my life. Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can’t even imagine the similarities in our divorces.’

The couple eventually got married in 2021.

And speaking about her husband to Drew Barrymore in 2022, Gwen said: ‘Finding a best friend, someone that is on the same plane when it comes to morals, or just the way you look at life, that’s the dream.’

She added that although they are ‘so different’ they are also ‘the same on so many levels.’

David Harbour and Lily Allen

Smile singer Lily Allen and Stranger Things star David Harbour have the most modern-day meet cute after coming across one another on the exclusive celebrity dating app, Raya.

Lily told the tale on the Jonathan Ross Show last year.

‘I didn’t know who he was. I thought he was just like a sexy policeman from a reality TV Show. He was wearing a policeman’s uniform. It was a still from Stranger Things. I’d never seen Stranger Things,’ she said at the time.

After the couple married in Las Vegas in 2020, David did an interview in which he raved about his wife, calling her a ‘deeply kind individual’.

Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin

Last but not least we have Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin.

Both grew up as child stars in drastically different spheres. Macaulay rose to fame as Kevin in Home Alone while Brenda starred as London Tipton in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.

But they crossed paths on the set of the movie Changeland in 2017 and never looked back.

Although the couple (who share two children) rarely discuss their relationship they showcased their love when Macaulay unveiled his Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

The pair got engaged in 2022 and at the end of last year sparked rumours that they had made things official after Brenda was spotted with a wedding band. We certainly wouldn’t be surprised.
