It’s no wonder streamers run ads on Twitch (Instagram)

Twitch star xQc says he makes £4,750 a day just from running ads on his stream, and if he stopped he’d lose out on millions every year.

The biggest content creators on sites such as YouTube and Twitch make more money in a year than most people would in a lifetime, thanks to lucrative deals with content platforms, sponsorships, fan donations, and merchandise – but it’s often thought the money they make from advertising revenue is relatively limited.

xQc is one of the most popular streamers around and as such was in a position to sign a non-exclusivity deal with streaming site Kick last year, worth a staggering £55 million.

How much does xQc earn from ads?

However, he’s made it clear that ads are important to him and bring in £1.7 million a year. So while most other streamers won’t be making that much, it is still a major source of income for them.

During a recent stream, xQc was asked by a fan to disable ads on his channel, which prompted the streamer to tell them that he doesn’t like to run ads, but it doesn’t make sense to stop them.

‘Bro, do you have any idea how much I’d lose if I go live and have no ads? Do you have any idea? xQc said.

‘It’s like $6,000 a day. Watch this,’ he added, while getting the calculator out on his computer.

He did the simple calculation of $6,000 (£4,750) times 365, which is $2,190,000 (£1,730,000).

‘The one-click I did today, that removed the ads, literally made me lose $2 million this year. Just for you. See? I’m so charitable and cool,’ he joked.

The calculation isn’t quite accurate, as xQc doesn’t stream every single day of the year. He often only takes one day off a week though, so it’s not too far off.

The numbers are also only applicable to streamers like xQc, who averages between 20,000 and 30,000 viewers each time they go live.

xQc further explained how advertising works on Twitch, saying:

‘You shouldn’t be getting any more ads except the pre-rolls that are literally Twitch-certified. The only way to remove those ads will be to remove my partnership.

‘So that would mean I wouldn’t have a subscribe button anymore, and then the chat would become complete dog s***. So, we’re not doing that,’ he said.

Streaming is extremely lucrative for the ones at the top of the pyramid, as xQc proved when he showed everyone his £280,000 Lamborghini on stream last year.

Another example of his wealth came when he spent £20,000 on Christmas presents for his viewers,

Many streamers appreciate their fans and give back, knowing that they are a big reason for their success, but despite his other flaws xQc is one of the most charitable creators out there.
