Among her glamorous selfies and adorable family pics, Demi Moore’s latest Instagram post sees her launch a fart positivity campaign.

The Substance star, 61, shared a rather strange video with her 5.3million followers in which she aims to eliminate the stigma around passing gas.

Dressed in a glamorous black gown, the Indecent Proposal actor dramatically reads a passage from Wonderbelly’s latest book, An Adult’s Guide to Farts, proudly stating ‘farts are nothing to be ashamed of.’

Pointing to the illustrations, she said she was ‘surprised’ to learn that ‘even bugs fart’, as well as cats, dogs, and birds.

In the caption, she wrote: ‘Farting… we all do it! So let’s talk about it. What better way than with a dramatic reading of @itswonderbelly’s new book “An Adult’s Guide to Farts”.

‘I was first introduced to @itswonderbelly when they came out with their clean ingredient Antacids. As a huge advocate of gut health, I immediately fell in love with the product and became an investor. Now that they’ve launched their new Bloat + Gas product, alongside this hilarious and educational book, I love them even more.

‘Not only does Wonderbelly make amazing digestive medicine, they do important work raising awareness around eating disorders and de-stigmatizing bodily functions (yes, like farting). So get the farter in your life “An Adult’s Guide to Farts” on Target.com — and get Wonderbelly’s other amazing products at @Target and @Cvspharmacy stores nationwide. This goes out to all my hot girls with stomach issues (@scoutlaruewillis @buuski @rumerwillis).’

She ended the post by challenging Kelly Ripa, Kate Hudson, and Chelsea Handler to read the book which might be one of the strangest internet challenges to date.

Fans were left ‘stunned’ by the video, with many claiming they did not have it on their 2024 bingo card – and honestly, we didn’t either.

‘God I love the internet! Demi reading a book about farts!? 90s me never saw this coming lol’, iamthereforeilove wrote.

Camillarantsen added: ‘Ok. I love you. I always did, but now more. Ok. Demi for VP.’

Others shared their own fart stories as Brad Goreski joked: ‘Blaming the dog is always a good go to’, with Wonderbelly responding the method has a ‘90% success rate.’

Many praised the star for normalising talking about gut health and Wonderbelly’s comical approach to the often taboo subject,

Nanadigitals said: ‘Love that you’re breaking the stigma around gut health and bodily functions! Wonderbelly’s approach is both hilarious and educational.’

William.g.reardon added: ‘Good and important work that you’re doing Demi! Bugs too!!! Ya learn something new every day!’

A synopsis for An Adult’s Guide To Farts reads: ‘What is a fart? Why do we fart? What are some famous farts throughout history? We answer some of humanity’s oldest questions in this beautifully illustrated coffee table book that will change the way you look at (and smell) farts forever.’
