Glen Powell was confronted with a blast for the past as he opened up about a game show appearance from his youth that didn’t go well.
We may know the 35-year-old actor best for his starring roles in recent hits Anyone But You and Twisters but long before he was charming fans with his onscreen charisma, he had made a one-off appearance on a reality series.
‘It’s really pretty hard for me to talk about, to be honest. I’ve never talked about this publicly ever,’ he said in a recent interview when he was presented with pictures of the cameo.
‘The fact they pulled this out is shocking, but here we go,’ he added.
He admitted that he appeared on a Discovery Kids show called Endurance in 2002 when he was 14 years old. The Survivor-style reality series which sent teenagers to a remote location to undergo challenges ran from 2002 to 2008.
As Glen said on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: ‘It’s a reality show where they pit [kids] against each other.
‘The really sad part is, I wanted to be on the show really bad and I got kicked off on the first episode.’

Stephen, 60, then showed the audience a clip from the episode in which a young Glen talks about his disappointment at leaving the show so soon after losing his balance and plunging into the sea during one of the tasks.
The show also gives an insight into Glen’s teenage years as his bio was then read aloud.
‘Glen likes making his own movies and is working to buy a professional video camera by mowing lawns and acting in commercials.
‘He is a world traveler and is looking forward to going to a new destination and new meeting people on Endurance,’ the talk show host shared with the audience.
Although Glen didn’t make his Endurance dreams come true, he has certainly made a success of his film career.
Before starring in blockbusters such as Lieutenant Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin in Top Gun: Maverick and lead character Gary Johnson in Hit Man, the A-List heartthrob had plenty of cameos across US film and TV.

This included Spy Kids 3, CSI: Miami, The Dark Knight Rises and Scream Queens among others.
And it wasn’t without its struggles. Earlier this year he recalled his financial problems while he waited for the Top Gun sequel (which he appeared in opposite Tom Cruise) to hit cinemas during the pandemic.
‘I’d never made any significant amount of money on a movie, including Top Gun, and I was depleting a bank account to a point where my accountant was like, “This pandemic cannot last much longer,’ he explained.
‘But Tom was already Tom; I was waiting for my life to change.’
As for Twisters, the reboot of the 90s disaster thriller, Glen is currently riding on the high of its unexpected box-office success. The film, also starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos, has surpassed $220million (£171million) at the global box office.
