An iconic 00s TV show’s gang could be getting back together for another spin around the ward.

It’s looking likely that Scrubs will make a triumphant return to the small screen after 14 years away as the creator has made a promising comment.

The medical sitcom ran for nine series from 2001 to 2010, but luckily, Bill Lawrence still thinks there are stories left to tell, and he’s predicting it could return within six months to a year.

‘We’ve been talking about it. We all spend time with each other in real life, but everybody is so talented from that show that they’re all working,’ he explained.

He added to The Independent: ‘We’ve really started to entertain the idea about getting the band back together because we all feel like we do have some stories to tell.

‘People in the medical community are heroes right now. They certainly aren’t doing it for the money! It’s been a crazy rough time, so I would not be surprised if we figure something out in the next six months to a year.’

The American comedy followed the lives of the employees working at the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital, as they worked their way up from interns to doctors.

John ‘J.D.’ Dorian, played by Zach Braff, provided the narration and his daydreams often gave way to surreal alternative realities that the series became known for.

Making up the rest of the core cast was love interest Sarah Chalke (Elliot Reid), best friend Donald Faison (Chris Turk), Judy Reyes (Chris’s wife Carla Espinosa), John McGinley (Perry Cox), Ken Jenkins (Bob Kelso) and Christa Miller (Perry’s ex-wife Jordan Sullivan). While Hollywood stars Heather Graham, Michael J. Fox and Colin Farrell all made cameos in the beloved show.

For the ninth series, viewers were introduced to a different cast of characters with Kerry Bishé as Lucy Bennett doing the narration. However, the variation of the popular show didn’t last – it was cancelled after just one series.

During its run, it received 17 Emmy nods and two wins.

Zach was also nominated for a Golden Globe on three occasions for his performance. The 49-year-old has previously indicated he would be open to putting on his scrubs again to play J.D.

‘It’s something we all talk about, especially now all these people are going back and doing Netflix versions of their shows. I’m very jealous of all this Gilmore Girls attention, and Full House. We talk about it every now and then, so you never know. I’d do it,’ he said in 2017.

Donald is equally as keen: ‘Here’s the deal: I think we all want a reboot and want to work together again but it couldn’t be a full season. Maybe like a movie or something we could shoot in a few months.’ He may need to speak to Bill about that, who’s now outwardly said a film may be too much work.

While Scrubs is in the works, Bill is already back on set with Zach in the new Apple+ crime comedy series Bad Monkey. He was once again playing a doctor, but with a completely different set of circumstances – this time he is drug-addicted doctor Israel O’Peele.

The former Scrubs co-stars also got together for a ‘pizza party’ earlier this year, and impressed fans with their ability to not age.

Scrubs is available to stream on Disney Plus.
