Rapper, songwriter, TV personality and mental health activist Professor Green alongside model and entrepreneur Arabella Drummond have chosen Lounges.tv, the new, disruptive streaming platform backed by Simon Cowell, to be the home of their new all-in-one tattoo, live music and chat show, premiering on 7 August.

The new show, Chattoo (think: “chat’ and ‘tattoo’), will see well-known music artists being tattooed while chatting with the two celebrity presenters. Each episode will culminate in the freshly tattooed artist performing live in an intimate space at Arabella’s One by One tattoo studio in Soho, London.

Chattoo was dreamed up by Tony Hopper and Thomas Jules, who expanded the idea and format with long-time friends Professor Green and Arabella, who was one of the first tattooed models to walk major fashion show catwalks.

The first episode, with Poppy Ajudha, the singer-songwriter and model from South East London, drops on 7 August at 8pm on Lounges.tv. Next in line for being inked up on the new weekly show are July Jones, Goodboys and Nicole O’Brien, with more names to be announced soon.

Each week Pro Green and Arabella interview a different artist in a relaxed-vibe setting, with easy going questions to start with – but the questions will get progressively more intense as the artist gets stuck into the tattoo session.

Audiences who watch-along live with Pro Green, Arabella and their incredible guests, and can take part in interactive chat, which is one of the features of livestreams on Lounges.tv.

Only last year the Chattoo team had a one-million-pound deal with a television production company. When the company had to shut its production arm amid industry-wide economic pressures the Chattoo team resolved to find another platform and invest their own money. Professor Green and Arabella Drummond are shareholders alongside co-creators Thomas Jules and Tony Hopper, and Brian Ainsworth’s production company Igloo, run by Brian and his daughter Louise Ainsworth.

Professor Green, rapper and co-presenter, Chattoo, says: “We chose Lounges.tv for so many reasons – we wanted the ability to host more live events in the future, Lounges is a platform that pays fairly, content is on-demand, and it’s easy to access anywhere by anyone who signs up and wants to stream the programme. And I like Simon Cowell!”

Brian Ainsworth, Chattoo Head of Production, says: “Chattoo has no big brand money behind it, and no corporate broadcaster – just years and years of grit, blood, sweat, tears and determination, an absolute passion by the five shareholding creators to share their dream with the world. In 2023 we had a million-pound deal on the table to green light the series, but then the company who offered the deal closed their production arm as a result of economic pressures in the TV industry. We could have just stopped at this point, but instead we made the series ourselves.  We’ve laughed and we’ve cried, but I’m so proud of our determined group, Thomas, Tony, Stephen (AKA Professor Green), Arabella and of course my daughter Louise – I love you guys, you all ROCK!

“I’ve been in the visual entertainment game for decades and I know other groups and projects will have found themselves in exactly the same situation. Lounges.tv is a perfect solution – they’ll help you share your dream and, in the cold light of day, here’s a simple fact: with the sale of a single ticket, the 80% revenue will be the first external money that the Chattoo team will have received! Let’s sell lots of tickets and plough the money back into more Chattoo episodes. We know the world wants more chat, tattoos and badass performances – so buy a ticket and follow us on this dream.”

Craig Gardner, Lounges.tv Co-founder and CPO, comments: “Lounges is all about supporting creatives, and our new Chattoo partnership is exactly the kind of content we love to be a part of. What Pro, Arabella and the team have created is effortlessly cool and exciting. The tattoo subculture is a huge area of the UK’s creative industries and overlooked at times – so to combine this alongside the country’s best music talents is a great move. We hope this show acts as an invitation for Tattooist and Musicians alike to come and find their home on Lounges.tv.

At Lounges.tv we want to play our part in creating a fairer creator economy with talent at the heart of everything – Chattoo as a partner will take home 80% of all pay-per-view sales and tips, and with our share we will promote and support as much as we can to help get this show out to the world.”

Louise Ainsworth, Producer, Chattoo, says: “Everyone at Chattoo is really excited to be collaborating with Lounges.tv. Our mission at Chattoo has always been to create a format where music artists can showcase their talent and personality while getting to share the experience and journey of their tattoo. Lounges.tv shares this vision and we can’t think of a better platform for the artists taking part in the show.”

Since Lounges.tv launched last year, it has helped thousands of artists and creators earn money and connect with fans. The platform, backed by Simon Cowell, enables talented creators (musicians, comedians, fitness trainers, chefs and many other kinds of creators) to be discovered and engage with their following through live, interactive streaming, video-on-demand and one-to-ones.

In contrast to the many streaming platforms that rely on a conventional ad-based revenue model Lounges.tv’s creator-first revenue model presents a fairer and faster way for musicians, and creators more generally, to monetise their content online. Creators keep 80% of all their streaming income and are paid within 24 hours of their content appearing on Lounges.tv.

To watch Chattoo, anyone can create a free account on Lounges.tv, either as a creator or a viewer. Anyone who wants to watch any of the episodes can go to Chattoo’s lounge, and simply log in to get a pass.
