Bridget Jones 4 has made a major announcement as Working Films reveals when they will be releasing the latest movie following a disaster that caused setbacks.

More than 20 years ago the smash era-defining romcom Bridget Jones’ Diary, first came to our screens with Renee Zellweger at the helm starring as the iconic 30-something singleton.

Now the film is set to return 24 years after the first movie with the latest installment Mad About The Boy.

In the past few months, sneak peeks at the upcoming film have delighted fans as the cast and crew have been snapped filming across London.

The new film was always set to be released on Valentine’s Day 2025, but this plan was put in jeopardy when a cast member broke a bone on set and had to be hospitalised.

It was reported that the filming schedule took ‘a hit’ and things were pushed back. An insider told The Sun in June: ‘Filming for the scenes might not start again until at least July, so the schedule has taken a hit.

‘They’ve got a tight window, especially with having to work around the busy diaries of A-listers. It’s a disaster.’

Despite this ‘disaster’, it seems that the filmmakers have revealed when the film will be released – and it’s totally on schedule!

Sharing a shot that revealed they had wrapped filming, Working Films revealed on social media: ‘That’s a wrap. See you on Valentine’s Day.’

Fans were delighted with the news that they will only have to wait for a few more months until the latest instalment is released and took to Instagram to share their excitement.

‘Screamiiiiiing😍’ commented nieveliss.

‘Omg no way!! Can’t wait to see Bridget❤️’ said cocotier_22.

Other fans joked that they couldn’t wait for months. ‘Oh come the f**k on Bridget…’ commented dean.gambleharverson, quoting the first film.

Another fan demanded more information about the movie: ‘Any teasers ? Love to see a clip,’ said godwardjanet.

The fourth movie will focus on Bridget’s life with her children and venture back into romance after her husband Mark Darcy – played by Colin Firth – dies.

The film is set to star White Lotus and One Day breakout star Leo Woodall as Bridget’s toyboy love interest which will delight fans who loved him in previous romantic roles.

Hugh Grant has also surprised fans after ducking out of the third movie as his character Daniel Cleaver returns from the grave.

Hugh has been snapped filming for the upcoming movie and set the expectations high for this film as he revealed to ET: ‘I’ll tell you what, I think this script for the fourth Bridget is the best one of the four. And, in fact, one of the best scripts I have read for in a long time.’

Bridget Jones Mad About The Boy is set to be released February 14, 2025.
