Netflix viewers can’t peel their eyes away from an ’emotional rollercoaster’ drama after discovering it three years later.

Maid arrived on the streamer in 2021 but has continued to captivate audiences who have hailed it a ‘masterpiece.’

The show stars real-life mother and daughter Andie MacDowell, 66, and Margaret Qualley, 29, in a story about ‘survival and resilience.’

It follows Alex (Margaret), a single mother who decides to leave her abusive relationship but faces new challenges as she takes up a job as a cleaner.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Maid has a 94% score on the Tomatometer, a reviews aggregator, from 49 critics.

Audiences also praised the 10-part limited series, with Caitlin T exclaiming: ‘AMAZING! I couldn’t keep my eyes off of this series, it shows there really is help out there for abused women.. and it also helps us women see that abuse isn’t just violent, it’s also mental

‘The way this series shows how hard it is for a single parent to work, and find childcare, and the struggles of saving money to have something go wrong to start from the beginning again, love, love, love it’s a MUST WATCH!!’

Echoing their sentiment, CapPol raved: ‘I’m a sucker for mother-daughter / father-son stories, and this is the best story I’ve seen. The performances are just unbelievably good and the series in general is just a masterpiece’

Xivono C added: ‘This show was an emotional watch. Every actor played their part so well and gave such compelling deliveries. Special mention to Margaret Qualley, she was absolutely phenomenal as Alex. She truly showed the complexities and difficulties of being a young mother, Truly in awe of her performance. Job well done really.

Nick Robinson also perfectly made me uncomfortable and feel empathy for him. What an actor. Great show, would recommend.’

Four Weddings and a Funeral star Andie previously admitted on The Graham Norton Show it ‘wasn’t easy’ to star alongside her daughter.

‘It wasn’t easy because she was so mean and cruel and horrible to her daughter,’ she said.

‘It was interesting that my daughter suggested me for the role and at first, I thought, “My god, does she see me like that?” Of course, she doesn’t but it was a little intimidating!’

Andie added: ‘It was so much fun but so challenging for me because I have never played a character like that before.

‘It was great to do something different and to show people what I am capable of.’

Maid is not the only show going down a storm on Netflix – with viewers cancelling their weekend plans to binge A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder.

The six-parter follows Pippa Fitz-Amobi (Emma Myers) as she investigates the murder-suicide of fellow schoolgirl Andie Bell (India Lillie Davies) five years after her death.

If those don’t tickle your fancy, other highly-rated Netflix shows on Rotten Tomatoes are Supacell, Savage Beauty and The Mole – which all received a perfect 100% on the site’s review aggregator.
