Aisling Bea has a lookalike – and she’s on the Olympic breakdancing team for Australia.

The Irish stand-up comic and actress, 40, has admitted she’s flattered to have been compared to none other than Raygun, Australia’s breakdancing superstar.

Raygun, whose real name is Rachel Gunn, entered as the Aussie hopeful in the first ever breaking competition at the Summer Olympic Games – but things didn’t quite go to plan.

Up against competition from all around the world, Raygun pulled out some unforgettable moves during her routine, including ground swimming and kangaroo jumping. She ultimately scored zero.

Naturally, the shots of her performance flew round social media in seconds, with the memes pouring in from across the globe – but viewers noticed that Raygun had a striking resemblance for Aisling.

On Twitter, @Sarahisnothere said: ‘When they make the inevitable Raygun Olympics biopic can we please have Aisling Bea as the Australian breakdancer? I beg.’

Meanwhile, @ChaoticNootral commented: ‘They should really get Aisling Bea in as a Ringer to be Raygun from the breakdancing Olympics on SNL.’

Some of these tweets eventually caught Aisling’s attention, and the former Taskmaster contestant didn’t wait long before letting everyone know she was aware of the comparisons.

‘Thank you to everyone for your DMs, tags, mentions, WhatsApps, texts, and messages of support for me representing Australia in this year’s Olympics,’ she began.

‘Sure I didn’t win, but I maintained my crown as a sexy lady who knows how to party and that’s enough for me.’

Some of Aisling’s biggest fans were quick to point out that, despite the uncanny resemblance, Aisling being several months pregnant definitely confirmed that Raygun wasn’t the Live at the Apollo star in disguise.

On Instagram, @HerculesXIV said: ‘Glad I’m not the only one who thought [you might be Raygun], then I remembered…,’ completing his message with a pregnant woman emoji and a potato.

Aisling announced her pregnancy in June alongside her partner Jack Freeman, a producer and composer – they first began dating in August 2022.

She announced the pregnancy in typically hilarious fashion, revealing that she only got pregnant for one very specific reason.

At the time, Aisling posted: ‘Dignity Intact. Got pregnant so I could try and put something beside Paul Rudd’s face to make him look older.’

The picture showed her exposed pregnant belly with a smiley face drawn on it, while famous actor and comedian Paul put his face up against her growing bump.

She then explained that the remarkable gallery of photos had been taken at a charity event in the USA, where she was also pictured alongside Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce and 90s singer Sheryl Crow.

‘Thanks to the @bigslickkc, Paul, @sethherzog super boy @travisKelce & mostly our angel @sherylcrow for helping me show off my bump in the most dignified & classy way possible. Sheryl said myself & Seth could be her very professional back up dancers with our ridiculous idea, how on brand! She really does just wanna have some fun, yawl.’
