It’s been a tough few weeks for Taylor Swift and her fans after the Southport tragedy and the Vienna concert terror plot.

After weeks of rioting and unease in the UK, Swifties with tickets for her five nights at Wembley Stadium were concerned the London gigs would be cancelled.

The Eras Tour was scrapped in Vienna, Austria, after a ‘concrete threat’ put a stop to the entire show and sparked worries over safety at future gigs.

Taylor, 34, has not commented on the crisis, but officials linked to London have confirmed the five shows will go ahead with extra security measures.

These appear to include a change to the schedule as all the Wembley concerts get brand new start times in the wake of the foiled attack.

Wembley has confirmed that fans will be allowed in even earlier than previously stated, altering the three-and-a-half-hour gig’s finish time.

Will Taylor Swift perform at Wembley Stadium?

The Eras Tour trucks officially arrived at Wembley on Monday, August 12, to begin setting up the iconic stage – confirming the intention to continue with the gigs.

Mayor Sadiq Khan confirmed that London will ‘carry on’ with Taylor’s Wembley shows, with the first of the five concerts taking place on August 15.

When asked about the events in Austria, Mr Khan told Sky News on Thursday: ‘We are a capital city, we are an international city, on a regular basis we host major events, whether it’s concerts – Bruce Springsteen was most recently at Wembley Stadium – we’re looking forward to welcoming Taylor Swift back.

‘I’m currently at (Chelsea’s football stadium) Stamford Bridge. Every other week there’s a game taking place. We have a huge amount of experience in policing these events, we’re never complacent, many lessons were learnt after the awful Manchester Arena attack.

‘The police work closely, not just with City Hall, but with councils, but also with those who host concerts, like the Taylor Swift concert coming up over the next couple of weeks.

‘I’m sure Vienna has got its own reasons to cancel the Taylor Swift concerts, we’re going to carry on, working closely with police (and) ensuring that the Taylor Swift concerts can take place in London safely.’

While Wembley has not been cancelled, some fans have decided to give up their tickets as they feel ‘unsafe’ over going to the concert.

The biggest Eras Tour fan account, who has over 760k followers on X, shared they would no longer be attending the final night in London due to the unrest in the UK.

They wrote: ‘I am still delusional and hope the riots in the UK will settle down in time for the shows in London and somehow I will be able to feel safe enough to go.

‘In any case, I will still be selling my ticket to someone who was supposed to be at the Vienna shows (hopefully someone who was supposed to see Taylor for the first time).’

Describing themselves as ‘heartbroken’ and ‘lost’, the anonymous account added: ‘At the end of the day it is always safety above all else and if you feel unsafe even you do not need to be anywhere you’re not sure of.

‘I myself am heartbroken because I’ve been considering and basically decided at this point to cancel my trip to London just as I managed to get a ticket 💔.

‘As a poc especially with what’s going in the UK, I did not want to take the risk but if you are travelling from overseas and attending the shows and live in London as well please stay on top of the news of what is going on at all times and remain vigilant, sending love and have the best time at the shows.’

When is Taylor Swift performing the Eras Tour in London?

The All Too Well icon is scheduled for five nights of performances and recently announced a second opening act for each concert.

The August London gigs follow Taylor’s UK tour leg in June, which opened in Edinburgh before travelling to Liverpool, London, and Cardiff.

She then headed across to Dublin, Ireland, and to the European continent with The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, and France all getting gigs.

Wembley is due to host Taylor on:

Thursday, August 15

Friday, August 16

Saturday, August 17

Monday, August 19

Tuesday, August 20

Along with Paramore, Taylor has announced Sofia Isella, Holly Humberstone, Suki Waterhouse, Maisie Peters, and Raye as opening support acts.

Early access ticket holders were told they would be allowed in at 3.45pm on Friday and Saturday and 3.30pm on the other dates.

Half an hour later the rest of the crowd will be allowed in, before the show starts at 4.55pm on Friday and Saturday and 5.20pm for the rest of the shows.

This has been pulled forward by 15 minutes on all the dates, with the stage kick-off now earlier than ever, meaning the show will also wrap earlier.

While not explicitly stated it’s likely these times have been altered to help clear Wembley before it gets too late, given the huge queues to leave.

Bag policy has been tightened at the venue, with many football fans reporting tickets have been triple-checked as they attempted to enter.

Strict rules are in place on taking items like balloons inside the venue as well as water bottles and large bags – which are banned over an A4 size.

Wembley has also said anyone tailgating (Taygating), where fans stand outside the arena to listen, will be removed.

Overnight camping is not permitted at the venue anyway due to the residential area but officials are asking people to arrive close to doors open rather than waiting outside for hours.

Which Taylor Swift concerts have been cancelled?

Currently, it is only the three nights in Vienna which have been called off, with automatic refunds for fans.

The concert was cancelled due to a ‘concrete’ plot to attack the venue by a teenager who had reportedly ‘joined ISIS’.

Franz Ruf, The General Director for Public Security, said in a press conference a 19-year-old Austrian citizen was arrested in Ternitz on Wednesday morning.

He allegedly said the teenager and another suspect had been ‘radicalised by the internet’ and it’s reported chemicals were found at his home during the arrest.

‘The suspected perpetrator was focused on the Taylor Swift concerts. Preparatory actions were detected,’ Ruf added.

There has been no mention of rescheduling the Eras Tour Austria and it is unlikely given Taylor’s confirmation the tour will end in December after returning to the US.

A notice posted on Barracuda Music announced the cancellation and read: ‘Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Vienna Shows Cancelled Due to Government Officials Confirmation of Planned Terrorist Attack.

‘With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.

‘All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days.’

Fans took to the streets to sing and share friendship bracelets in Vienna, with Taylor organising free Swarovski necklaces for anyone with a valid ticket.

Of course, this sweet gesture quickly sold out but fans were still given a discount should they wish to purchase something.

What have police said about Taylor Swift’s UK gigs?

The Metropolitan Police has said there are no reports of ‘anything of note’, and told The Mirror that ‘London plays hosts to a significant number of very high profile events each year with millions of visitors having a safe and enjoyable experience’.

It added: ‘The Met works closely with venue security teams and other partners to ensure there are appropriate security and policing plans in place.’

However, there will also be increased security (Picture: Thomas Niedermueller/TAS24/Getty Imagesfor TAS Rights Management )

Policing minister Diana Johnson has also reassured fans that Scotland Yard will look at ‘all the intelligence’ ahead of the concerts.

‘Clearly, the police will be looking at all the intelligence and making decisions, they risk assess every event that happens in this country, and that’s something for the police,’ she told LBC.

‘Can I also just say there is, of course, a commitment in our manifesto in the General Election to introduce Martyn’s law, which, again, is about making sure that those … venues which could be subject to terrorist attack have in place everything that they need in terms of keeping people safe, and that will be brought forward by the government shortly.’
