Eamonn Holmes has demanded a guest ‘not lecture him’ during a fiery debate on GB News.

The TV presenter, 64, was leading a discussion about the Union Jack flag on Tuesday’s episode of Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel when things got incredibly tense.

Royal broadcaster and historian Rafe Heydel-Mankoo joined the show alongside anti-racism activist Imarn Ayton to debate whether the Union Jack flag was divisive.

It came after the recent news that a village in Norfolk is divided over whether the fly the Union Jack flag, with fears it will ‘scare people away’.

While Heydel-Mankoo said the flag ‘should install pride in all of us’, his fellow guest had very different opinions.

She then spoke about how people should reconsider flying the Union Jack flag because it has ‘associations with the far-right’.

‘We’ve seen these riots lately, they keep going on about how British they are. I used to think, “racism, lslamophobia, prejudice, bigotry, Union Jack”.

‘Now because of the far-right individuals, I represent Britishness with the Union flag and the far-right.’

She then spoke about how people should reconsider flying the Union Jack flag because it has ‘associations with the far-right’.

As they came to the end of the segment, Eamonn said: ‘Running a flag outside a village hall in Norfolk, you sort of think what’s the big deal.’

However, unimpressed with his comment, Ayton declared: ‘Be considerate. No, be considerate guys. I know you’ve finished your segment but Eamonn I’m not going to let you finish with that one.

‘Be considerate of other people’s beliefs and views. If you are considerate and sympathetic of everyone and how we perceive the world, you might find yourself leading with equality. Just so you know, I’ll finish it there.’

Jumping in, the host said: ‘Let me just tell you something. You don’t have to lecture me. I sit in the middle, trying to see both sides of things.’

As the pair then started speaking over each other, Ayton said she felt the host had ‘validated’ Heydel-Mankoo’s opinion by letting him speak last.

However, Eamonn said he ‘finished with everyone’, before sharing his opinion on the flag debate.

‘I’m trying to say you did not grow up in Northern Ireland, where a flag represented something political and anti to a certain religion in Northern Ireland, I did. I had to live with it,’ he said.

However, Ayton replied: ‘And just like with black people, you are not black sir and I understand racism more than you.’

‘Ahh give me a break,’ her fellow guest could then be heard exclaiming.

Earlier in the discussion Ayton also corrected Eamonn several times, including when he mispronounced her name.
