Jonnie Irwin’s widow Jess Irwin has revealed the heartbreaking news that her father has died.
Sharing photo of her family when she was a child, Jess posted the following message to her 14,000 Instagram followers.
‘My heart breaks again 💔 dad you were the best And the wittiest ever. I get the mad side from you that’s for sure. Love you ✨’
Jess was flooded with messages of support, with many offering their condolences on her loss, which comes six months after the death of her husband, who died in February.
‘Oh Jess, I’m so sorry to read this, you are really going through it. Your boys will get you through, I’m sure. Love & strength x’ Simon commented.
‘I am DEVASTATED to hear of another serious loss for you and your family Jess. Life can be so cruel that is for sure. My heart goes out to you. Sending special love your way,’ Susan wrote.

‘So sorry to read this I can’t believe your going through all this heartache,’ Judi added.
Escape to the Country presenter Nicki Chapman also wrote: ‘Thinking of you, the boys and the whole family. I’m so so sorry x’
Irwin was best known for presenting the Channel 4 lifestyle programme A Place in the Sun between 2004 and 2021, as well as the BBC daytime programme Escape to the Country between 2010 and 2023.

He died on February 2 at the age of 50, after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2020, which then spread to his brain.
He and Jess, who he married in 2016, and their three children: Rex, three, and twins Rafa and Cormac, two.
In June, Jess posted a photo of her family to mark their first Father’s Day after her husband’s death, writing: ‘To a brave daddy who was the very best. We love and miss you. Thank you for all the fun times we had together.’
A few months ago, Jess spoke about her profound distress over the family’s terrible ordeal.

Speaking of his final moments, she shared: ‘It is just heartbreaking to see someone you love so much in that state, but he was surrounded by love and in our home, as he wanted, not in a hospice.’
‘I hated every second lying next to my dying husband. I cuddled him, but he was in a lot of pain. I was constantly moving him, administering drugs.’
Jess added that she ‘still struggles with what he went through’.
‘I can’t imagine what it is to know your time is up and you’re hearing the noise of your three sons kicking a football in the drive; you can smell food cooking downstairs.’
