A Strictly Come Dancing star has seemingly revealed which professional dancer they’ve been paired with for the upcoming season.

Over the past week, the cast of this year’s season has been announced.

They are Chris McCausland, JB Gill, Wynne Evans, Toyah Willcox, Dr Punam Krishan, Tasha Ghouri, Pete Wicks, Shayne Ward, Sarah Hadland, Tom Dean, Jamie Borthwick, Montell Douglas, Nick Knowles, Paul Merson and Sam Quek.

Some have already been seen at rehearsals as they prepare to hit the dancefloor, but their professional dance partners are yet to be announced.

However, one of the celebrities – Gladiators star Montell Douglas – might have ‘accidentally leaked’ who she’s been paired with.

The 38-year-old sprinter competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics before taking up bobsleigh in 2016 and becoming part of the Great Britain two-woman bobsleigh team the following year, going on to compete at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Her appearance at the Beijing Winter Olympics saw her become the first female UK athlete to compete at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

Earlier this year, Montell then appeared as Fire in the BBC reboot of Gladiators.

Although the national broadcaster is yet to announce the pairings, Montell’s social media activity seems to have given it away after she followed Nikita Kuzmin on Instagram.

She doesn’t follow any of the other professional dancers.

Nikita also commented on a BBC post announcing her casting, writing: ‘Yeaaaa welcome❤️’

However, several of the other dancers, including Gorka Marquez, Dianne Buswell, Amy Dowden, Nancy Xu and Jowita Przystał also welcomed her with supportive comments.

First joining the series in 2021, Nikita has previously been paired with Tilly Ramsay, Ellie Simmonds and Layton Williams.

He also recently appeared on ITV’s Celebrity Big Brother, placing second behind reality star David Potts.

This isn’t the only ‘leak’ to hit Strictly this season after Olympian Tom Dean confirmed he had signed up for the show before it was officially announced.

After making the final of the men’s 200 metres individual medley at the Paris Olympics, he said about Strictly: ‘Naturally, you want to take a break after you’ve had a full Olympic cycle and the opportunity arose.

‘I thought it would be really exciting to try something a bit different.’

However, during an interview on Capital Breakfast the following week, he was tight-lipped and went red when asked to speak about his casting.

Presenter Chris Stark tried to prod him to no avail as the athlete stayed staunchly quiet on the topic.

‘I think I uh… am just focusing on enjoying the Olympic moment right now and spending a lot of time with my teammates, and I’ll see what the summer holds,’ he diplomatically responded.

Chris then quipped: ‘I think what’s hilarious is, I never think you’re meant to blab these things too early. You can get in loads of trouble for it, so I think he’s just being super professional by not giving anything away on that.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted BBC and representatives for Montell Douglas for comment.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to the BBC later this year.
