Charlotte Awbery probably isn’t a name you recognise instantly, but you’ll know her face – and certainly her voice.
The singer-songwriter became an internet sensation during the pandemic, having gone viral when filmed at the tube station.
In 2020, the British woman was asked to complete the lyrics to Lady Gaga’s tune Shallow and gained a legion of fans practically overnight and, perhaps more importantly, had the title ‘queen of the gays’ bestowed upon her.
After her viral moment, Charlotte even released an official Shallow music video and was branded an ‘inspiration’ by many.
She has continued posting covers on social media and submitted a song for Eurovision last year.
But Charlotte’s internet fame is far from over, oh no.

In fact, it’s all started up again with a clip of her doing mega numbers on X.
Shared by the user fathrfigvre, from Houston, Texas, a caption read: ‘Is it me or does she have 70s face? The kind of face that a celebrity in the 70s would have’.
His tweet was accompanied by a video of Charlotte looking stunning in a blue dress, her blonde hair curly as she sat at a wedding reception with friends, belting out If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys.
It didn’t take long for people to pick up where they knew her from, as the original post been viewed over 13million times.
Joking that we appear to have travelled back in time, _JamesGtfo wrote: ‘Global pandemic, US election year, Lady Gaga releasing music, Charlotte Awbery going viral. Welcome back 2020’.
‘is that “I’M OFF THE DEEP END” subway girl????’, asked chattyreality.
‘wait isnt this the subway woman who belted for a silly tiktok and went viral’, echoed reyhospacebitch.
Not everyone was so thrilled to see her on their timeline, though, as Charlotte’s resurgence seems to have come at a rather eerie time.
‘Monkeypox was declared a pandemic and we got Charlote Awbery singing again’, wrote Monteverdy_.
‘The last time she went viral we had a lockdown.. pls put her back’, declared Graceism_.

It turns out the video was originally shared on Charlotte’s Instagram page, where she boasts a mighty 470,000 followers.
‘I love this song! Xx’, she wrote in the caption two days ago, clearly unaware of how viral her cover would go once more.
Comments soon flooded in hailing her as ‘our subway queen’ and praising her ‘absolutely beautiful voice’.
Charlotte remains a regular performer off the back of her TikTok success four years ago.
She appears to be a regular at the Pizza Express Live in Chelsea and in May, she released her own song named Serenity.

What’s more, she’s partaken in Britney Spears-inspired fashion shows and frequently uploads glam snaps from her travels.
Speaking previously about her unexpected fame, the vocalist told Metro.co.uk that, despite her Shallow cover being watched by millions, alas, Gaga hadn’t reached out.
‘No, she’s [Lady Gaga] not been in touch,’ Charlotte told us.
‘I don’t know if she’s seen it. She must be so busy, you know?
‘She’s releasing this single (Stupid Love), she’s not even thinking about Charlotte from Romford. She’s so busy!’
Charlotte also clarified that she was, by no means, trying to be an impersonator.
‘Listen, I’m not Lady Gaga,’ she stated. ‘I’m not trying to take over from Lady Gaga. I’m Charlotte.
‘I’m a massive fan of Lady Gaga, I think she’s great… but I am who I am.’
On what her hopes were for the future off the back of her major follower increase, Charlotte said she’d ‘like to be taken seriously as an artist’.
‘Hopefully, if people like my music and I was talking to any record labels… fingers crossed I’d see what comes from here.
‘My dream is to show my own music, not to compete with Lady Gaga.’
