The Script frontman Danny O’Donoghue has popped the question to his girlfriend of four years – but the romantic proposal almost didn’t go to plan.
Danny, 43, whisked his other half, Anais Naing, 30, off to Norway earlier this month where he asked her the all-important question.
However, the Hall of Fame hitmaker has revealed he nearly ‘passed out’ due to exhaustion before he was even able to get down on one knee.
Danny – who performs in The Script alongside Glen Power, Benjamin Sargent, and Ben Weaver – gave an insight into the proposal in a new interview.
‘We hiked up to the top of a mountain to face the most beautiful waterfall in the world, The Seven Sisters. It’s our favourite place on earth,’ he told The Sun.
‘I nearly passed out from exhaustion carrying up all the champagne, glasses and food for if she said yes. I had to do it all without her knowing.’

Thankfully, Anais couldn’t have been happier to say yes, with the newly-engaged couple now on cloud nine.
Expressing his love for her, Danny added sweetly: ‘When you know, you know… I knew when it wasn’t right, but now I know whatever that is, that it’s 100% right.’
The Breakeven singer met Anais during the pandemic, which he believes strengthens their bond.
‘I met her during Covid and if you’ve been with anybody through Covid it’s like you compress 10 years into those years.’
The pair’s first meeting was simply a chance encounter when they bumped into one another in their neighbourhood in London.
Danny has since been vocal about his affection for her in his songwriting, having penned tracks such as One Thing I Got Right and At Your Feet, the latter of which is says is Anais’s favourite as it’s ‘directly about her’.

French beauty Anais has visited Danny’s family in Ireland on several occasions and has his mother’s seal of approval.
Before they began dating and went public with their romance at the 2021 Pride of Britain Awards, the star was in a three-year relationship with Brazilian model Anne De Paula, but they split in 2018.
Meanwhile, Danny and his bandmates are celebrating the release of their new album, Satellites, which is on track to earn them their seventh number one record.
It’s a bittersweet time, however, as the album marks their first since the sudden death of member Mark Sheehan, who died in April last year aged 46 following a short, undisclosed illness.
After his shock death, The Script issued a statement reading: ‘Much loved husband, father, brother, bandmate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness.
‘The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time.’
In May this year, it was revealed publicly that guitarist Sheehan left his £9.4million fortune to his family.
He was a father to three children and lived in America with his wife, Rina.

Speaking about the loss, friend and bandmate Danny – who had been best friends with Sheehan since the age of 12 – has since said he struggled to stay sober and quit alcohol due to his grief and ‘depression’.
He now believes the late musician would be ‘proud’ of the new Script record.
Danny told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: ‘There was one song which he heard, which he really loved, which was the song Satellites that I know he loved. And although we didn’t work on it together, I know he loved that tune and he loved the lyric in it.’
He added: ‘For me, moving past, it wasn’t necessarily why we called the album Satellites, but the more that I love the album title there’s a great symmetry to it as well.’
