A fan has found almost half the characters that will be in Astro Bot, using footage from a leaked gameplay video, strengthening the rumour that Sony has made a deal with Activision and Xbox for some heroes.

In May Sony announced a new Astro Bot game set to come out September 6 on PlayStation 5, that looks like a promising evolution to its predecessor Astro’s Playroom.

The announcement came with a trailer which revealed a handful of bots, dressed up as well-known PlayStation characters, such as Kratos from God of War, Uncharted’s Nathan Drake, and Ratchet from Ratchet and Clank.

More recently, however, a gameplay video leaked online, showing a lot more of what to expect from Astro Bot, and one fan has found 72 different heroes. All while a rumour has emerged that Sony has also made a deal with Activision and Xbox to include Spyro and Crash Bandicoot to the mix.

The gameplay video was posted on YouTube and has since been made private, but one fan decided to list every character they found in it, which added up to no less than 72. (Be mindful of spoilers below).

The fan, named Osirian Portal on gaming forum ResetEra, even added images for each character as proof.

It’s a very diverse set of characters, and includes Raiden and Solid Snake from Metal Gear, Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil, Abe from Oddworld, Kazuya Mishima from Tekken, Clicker, Ellie and Joel from The Last of Us, Pyramid Head from Silent Hill, and the cat from Stray.

The poster also said they found Crash from Crash Bandicoot, while another commentator said they saw Spyro in the leaked video.

That seems to confirm the rumour brought forward by Exstas1s on Twitter, who claims that Sony ‘has reached an agreement with Activision/Xbox to feature Crash Bandicoot and Spyro in the Astro Bot game for PS5’, according to Twitter’s translation tool.

Though Exstas1s says they’re unsure if Spyro and Crash are playable characters or not.

It’s already known that Astro Bot will feature over 150 PlayStation characters, across more than 50 planets.

Now, because of the leaked video and some eagle-eyed fans, almost half of the characters have been revealed two weeks before Astro Bot even comes out.

But will they all be playable? (PlayStation)
