Gemma Collins has revealed that she was ‘very lucky’ to survive a storm at sea as she sends her condolences to the people who lost their lives in the same tornado.

On Monday morning a tornado wreaked havoc off the coast of Porticello fishing village.

The weather caused a Baysian superyacht to sink and although 15 people were rescued, the sailboat’s chef was found dead and six people are still missing.

Gemma, 43, shocked her followers by explaining that she too was affected by this storm off the coast of Sicily and was ‘stuck for four hours’.

In the caption of a photo of her on a boat, the star explained: ‘Holiday update my heartfelt condolences to the people and families involved in the tragic disaster at sea in Sicily ❤️

‘I was very lucky me and my nephew to have survived the storm at sea 🌊

‘I am shaken and returning to the UK tomorrow god was on our side today 🙏🏻😘 we was stuck for 4 hours can you imagine what was going through my mind 🙏🏻thank you @bluediamondcruise for getting us back safely ❤️’

There were 22 people aboard the superyacht that sank including 10 crew members. The boat was anchored a half-mile off Porticello when the storm took place.

It has been reported that those missing from the superyacht include Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International, and his wife, along with Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah.

Divers have been searching for the bodies and survivors but have yet to locate the six missing individuals.

On her Instagram story, Gemma shared images from her boat trip of what should have been a beautiful trip. The photos posted showed the sunny start to the day, plus the luxurious oysters and tomato salads she enjoyed while on the boat.

She also showed videos of the small boat being lashed by the rain as she, her nephew, and the two boat staff huddled towards the centre as the exposed areas around them were covered in rainwater.

The TV personality again emphasised that she was shaken by the experience. Another image on her story showed a photograph of an alcoholic drink as she revealed ‘As you all know I don’t drink but tonight I need 2!!!!’

Fans rushed to support the star, and wish her well as she tried to spend some quality time with her family.

The former Only Way is Essex star has always been open about her life and the blows she’s been dealt over the years.

A few months ago she revealed she considered taking her own life after hellish 72 hours on I’m A Celebrity in 2014 before withdrawing due to suffering from panic attacks and deciding it ‘wasn’t for her.’

In the same interview in May, Gemma disclosed that she found out her unborn baby was intersex before doctors advised pregnancy termination. She has also been dealing with family stress as it was reported earlier this year that her mother was taken to hospital after she stopped breathing.
