One wrong click of the mouse, which led content creator Ethan Nestor to an inappropriate image, got him banned on Twitch during a Wikipedia speedrun.

It’s not uncommon to see streamers get banned from Twitch, as the platform has a long list of terms and conditions that content creators often test to the absolute limit to gain viewers.

Some of the rules that often get streamers in trouble on Twitch revolve around nudity and anything overly sexual, and that’s what fans believe got Ethan Nestor – known as CrankGamePlays on YouTube – banned this week.

Before he got banned, Nestor was doing Wikipedia speed runs – which has the player click hyperlinks quickly to get to a specific page – and ended up on a site showing an explicit picture.

Twitch doesn’t state the exact reason why a streamer gets banned, so fans were left speculating on Twitter, where a post of his ban has been liked 18,000 times.

It didn’t take long before a consensus formed, however, with many agreeing that he was banned because he had clicked on a Wikipedia hyperlink to a page showing female genitalia.

His Twitch account is now blocked with a generic message, saying, ‘This channel is temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.’

Nestor doesn’t seem to have any objections though, as he simply posted ‘whoops’ on Twitter, referring to the ban.

For context, a Wikipedia speedrun is when you start from one page with the goal of getting to another specific, but completely unrelated page by clicking the hyperlinks.

This is done with a timer, to see how fast you can do it, which adds a sense of urgency, and maybe the reason why Nestor accidentally ended up on a page he shouldn’t have.

Twitch usually issues suspensions ranging from one to 30 days for an offence like this, depending on if Nestor has any previous bans, so he’ll be back soon.
