‘You only get high Steam level to flex or if you’re rich,’ says YouTuber OhnePixel (Valve)

A gamer appears to have spent £380,000 to own the number one Steam account in the world, with a ridiculous inventory of skins to show for it.

It wasn’t long ago that a video game collector earned himself a Guinness World Record for connecting 444 gaming consoles – from the Magnavox Odyssey to the PS5 Slim – into the same TV.

Now an unrelated, but equally unnecessary record has been broken, as a gamer has spent about half a million dollars to get the highest ranked account on Steam in the world.

The Steam account in question is named Stasik, who now has reached level 5960, which one YouTuber says would set them back between $400,000 and $700,000 (£300,000 to £530,000).

The reason it can cost so much money to get to level 5960 is because a big part of earning points on Steam is by purchasing them and crafting badges, which can be done by buying lots of trading cards.

For a long time Steam account St4ck held the top spot at level 5001, but recently, Stasik, whose profile says he’s based in the United Arab Emirates, has overtaken them by almost 1,000 levels.

Counter-Strike 2 YouTuber OhnePixel spotted the new record, saying:

‘It cost St4ck, to get to level 5000, between $400,000 and $700,000 to be number one. […] Steam even acknowledged him, they give him a specific badge.’

OhnePixel also said that when St4ck levelled up their account a few years ago, Valve had to create new badges because nobody had ever gone so far.

Stasik’s profile has no new badge, however, presumably because Valve hasn’t made one for levels this high.

Their profile also shows a very impressive Counter-Strike 2 inventory, including seven factory new AWP Dragon Lore skins – which sell for £10,000 each on third party sites.

Their account includes over 2.8 million items in total, including weapon cosmetics, rare stickers, and more, from many different games.

‘He spent over $500,000 (£380,000) to get this Steam level. Like what kind of person are you if you have half a million to spare on a Steam level? You only do it to flex on the internet,’ OhnePixel added.
