Lost In Roguelites (Thunderful)

Thunderful Games has revealed a sequel to Lost In Random, which is set to launch next year.

Between its Tim Burton aesthetic and dice-based combat, Lost In Random was one of the overlooked indie gems of 2021.

While it didn’t make the same commercial splash as other EA Originals like It Takes Two or Unravel, the world of Random is set to continue through a sequel developed by Thunderful. The original developer, Zoink, was integrated into Thunderful in 2020.

The sequel, titled Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, is dropping the original’s core combat and exploration-based structure though and is, instead, jumping into the roguelite genre.

As shown in the trailer, the sequel sees you play as Queen Aleksandra, who rules over the world of Random, alongside her die companion Fortune, as they try to escape the Eternal Die labyrinth.

In the spirit of the world, players will fight through randomly generated levels across four realms, with death transporting you back to a sanctuary where you can chat with fully voiced allies or unlock and upgrade weapons.

According to the press release, there’s also a buff system where you ‘collect and strategically match relics on your board to uncover hundreds of combinations of instant effects, chaotic synergies, and powerful bonuses that heavily impact various playstyles’.

While it’s disappointing that it is a roguelite, especially as there’s been so many recently between The Rogue Prince Of Persia and Hades 2 via early access, it could potentially lead to a proper follow-up if this performs well.

Lost In Random: The Eternal Die is slated to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2025.

Earlier this week, a bunch of new games were revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live, including Borderlands 4 and Reanimal.

The world of Random will hopefully still be a highlight (Thunderful Games)
