90s children’s TV star Zbych Trofimiuk is living a very different life 29 years after Spellbinder came to an end.

The 45-year-old actor appeared on CITV screens as Paul Reynolds on the Australian show back in the day.

The fantasy show, which first aired on Australia’s Nine Network, ran for one series between January and July 1995 with a total of 26 episodes.

UK fans picked up on the fantasy series once it got picked up by CITV, as they followed Paul’s adventures travelling through a parallel universe.

A prequel series Spellbinder: Land of the Dragon Lord also ran for 26 episodes, while Zbych continued to act.

Away from the world of Spellbinder, he made appearances in the likes of Snowy Rider: The McGregor Saga, Sky Trackers, Clean and A Country Practice.

Now, he has left the world of acting behind and is an English teacher helping overseas students in Europe and Australia.

Zbych also helps non-English speaking pupils study in Australia.

In a recent picture of him, Zybch has naturally grown up from his teenage years, and looks a world away from his time as Paul Reynolds.

However, he’s still been wearing his hair in his signature style, sporting his middle parting.

While some of Spellbinder co-stars like Heather Mitchell (Ashka), Andrew McFarlane (Brian) and Brian Rooney (Alex) have carried on with acting, others have also stepped away.

Gosa Piotwoska (Piana) now works for an architecture firm, while Leonard Fung (Su) is an art director and Rafal Zwierz (Gryvon) is a legal advisor.

Georgie Fisher, who played his on-screen sister Christine, has embraced a career in music after never intending to build a life from acting.

‘Acting was never something I thought about too much. It was just something that happened in my life,’ she recently told Variety Australia. ‘Spellbinder’ was actually my final acting job.’

Her music started getting noticed in Sri Lanka, and she was amazed to find out the show had an audience there after being broadcast there in 1997.

She added: ‘I had no idea the show had even been screened there, and I was suddenly getting all these really sweet and adorable messages saying things like, “Thank you for making our childhood special.”

‘I thought it was cool, but it really came out of left field.’
