The Foo Fighters will be donating any royalties earned from Donald Trump’s use of their iconic track to Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

The rockers, made up of Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee, and Josh Freese, rushed to act after their song, My Hero, was used at a Republican rally last week.

On Friday, the 1998 hit played out as the controversial Republican candidate introduced Robert F Kennedy Jr to the stage in Arizona.

After the group confirmed that they were not asked permission for the usage, and would not have granted it if they had been approached, it has been revealed that they have taken things one step further.

Representatives told Billboard that ‘appropriate actions are being taken’, and also confirmed that any royalties they receive from the unpermitted usage will be ‘donated to the Harris/Walz campaign’.

Clearing up any confusion, the Foo Fighters’ official Twitter page was asked whether they allowed for My Hero to be played and simply replied ‘no’.

They then shared a screenshot of the interaction with the message: ‘Let us be clear’.

This isn’t the first time that Trump’s presidential campaign has been hit with issues over music use as some of the biggest names in the industry have reportedly come out against him, including Rihanna, the Rolling Stones and the estates of Prince and Sinead O’Connor.

In recent weeks, it was claimed that Beyonce had threatened his team with a cease and desist letter after her epic song, Freedom, was used in a 13-second video on social media.

The clip, which has since been deleted, was uploaded by Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung and showed the Republican nominee in Michigan, set to the Lemonade bop.

Although Bey hasn’t addressed the situation personally, she did grant Democrat Harris the permission to use Freedom in her own campaign.

Celine Dion’s team were also swift to slam the Republican party for using My Heart Will Go On at a rally in Montana, issuing a very pointed statement.

‘Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing My Heart Will Go On at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana,’ they said.

‘In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use.’

They ended the message by adding: ‘…And really, THAT song?’
