A ‘fraudulent’ website is trying to trick MrBeast fans into paying money, in exchange for taking part in his YouTube videos.
MrBeast has still yet to comment on the allegations levelled at him over the past month – including the idea that he has staged content in his videos and knowingly hired a registered sex offender – but the people around him have not been quiet on social media.
The head of MrBeast’s ideas and thumbnails team tried to debunk the staging accusations, while the YouTube star’s girlfriend said ‘only ‘half’ of the allegations are untrue’.
In the middle of everything, another MrBeast employee has addressed fans, but for something completely different: there is a scam email going around asking for money to participate in the YouTuber’s videoes.
‘Please share, don’t get scammed. We will never ask for money to compete in a video,’ said MrBeast’s chief of staff, Shawn Hendrix.
He added that there’s an email going around from contact at mrbeastcast.com, that is asking for payment to take part in the upcoming Beast Games Amazon TV series and videos on the MrBeast YouTube channel.
‘These emails are designed to trick you into sharing sensitive details. We are working on taking down the fraudulent website and forms, but in the meantime please do not click on any links or provide any personal information,’ he said on Twitter.
The Beast Games production for Amazon Prime was also recently criticised, as some contestants were taken to hospital and others complained that they were ‘barely fed’.
Amid the controversy surrounding the YouTuber, MrBeast has hired a chief human resources officer and general counsel, and organsied company-wide sensitivity training.
The scandal is hurting MrBeast’s YouTube videos, as his last two videos have been downvoted 2.4 and 1.7 million times, which is much more than any of his other videos.
