Art the Clown is giving Norman Bates a run for his money in the shower scene department if the latest trailer for Terrifier 3 is anything to go by.

The third instalment of the horror franchise is hitting the big screen on October 11 and has a lot to live up to, after the 2022 outing made film fans vomit and faint during screenings.

If anyone is up to the task, it’s the most bone-chilling clown in movie history, who has decided to ruin Christmas for Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) years after she escaped his clutches.

In the new teaser, she is seen preparing for the holidays and sharing her hopes for the ‘best Christmas ever, filled with fun, smiles and laughter’ when her old nemesis (David Howard Thornton) rears his ugly head to ruin her plans.

At one point, Art – dressed as a nightmare Santa Claus – surprises a couple getting hot and heavy in the shower, breaking the glass and swinging a gigantic chainsaw, reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho but way more gruesome.

He also sits in for Father Christmas at a grotto surrounded by young children, suggesting that no one is safe from his bloodthirsty wrath.

‘You survived the most famous serial killer since Jack the Ripper,’ a pal tells Sienna ahead of the five-year anniversary of her ordeal, encouraging her to open up about her experience.

‘I think a lot of people would really like to hear you after all this time.

‘[They] want to know what it’s like to be in the presence of that kind of evil. What goes through your brain when he’s close enough to you that you can feel his breath.’

After a montage of Art tormenting locals, the trailer ended with a cryptic warning that ‘Christmas comes early this year’.

Fans were thrilled by the teaser and flocked to social media to unpack the footage, suggesting that it could be even scarier than the original.

Taking to Twitter, Sammie penned: ‘Art looks scarier than ever!! I can’t wait to see this in theaters.’

XpertFusion agreed: ‘Looks solid. Terrifier 2 is one of the best slashers in the past decade. Wouldn’t be surprised if this beats it.’

‘It’s giving all the chills. Marking October 11 on my calendar,’ Fatima said.

As Patriots Luchador added: ‘My most anticipated movie of the year looks F**KING AWESOME!!! LFG.’

Thankfully, we don’t have too long to wait as Terrifier 3 will be released in cinemas in October, just in time for Halloween.

Director Damien Leone created the infamous monochrome clown in his 2008 short film, the 9th Circle, which led to Art terrorizing the big screen nearly a decade later.

The first Terrifier film was released in 2016, with the hugely popular follow-up just two years ago.

Lauren previously opened up to Deadline about reprising her character once again, and getting the coveted ‘final girl’ status.

‘Even being called a “Final Girl” is such an honor to me, but Scream Queen is something I never thought I would attain,’ she told Deadline. ‘Damien had so much faith in and understanding of this character. It has been overwhelming, but in the best way.

‘I think it’s pretty badass. I mean that’s just me. I know certain people might have different opinions about that title, but I think it’s pretty cool. I love horror. I’ve always been a horror enthusiast, and I love women in horror.

‘I think they’re some of the most complex, interesting, layered characters, and that is true tenfold for Sienna, in my opinion. So, yeah, I love the title, and I would love to continue to have that title in the future.’

We’ll have to see if she survives Art’s threats…

Terrifier 3 is in cinemas on October 11.
