Noel and Liam Gallagher have officially reformed Oasis after being at odds for years in a move we never believed would happen.

The band will embark on a world tour in 2025, with UK and Ireland dates announced to the delight of fans everywhere.

Getting tickets is looking rather daunting but Britpop fans are keeping spirits high with plenty of jokes about the notoriously turbulent brothers falling out again.

While we hope they can roll with it until July at least, it’s hard to ignore their history of hurling abuse at each other, very publicly.

Liam, 51, has a penchant for less-than-kind tweets about his 57-year-old brother, but Noel’s hit back more than a few times over their two decade-long feud.

From declarations that Noel is a ‘potato’ to blasting Liam’s ‘s**t’ new record, it’s no secret the Gallaghers haven’t always seen eye to eye — so here’s their nine best tweets at each others’ expense.

Liam says ‘F**k Oasis’ and calls Noel a ‘potato’

Immediately after the Oasis Live ’25 news broke, an old tweet of Liam’s from 2016 began to go viral.

‘F**k Oasis,’ he wrote on X during a rant about his brother and the band in general with another post reading ‘fokin prick. [sic]’

‘Go on have a whinge fan boys LG x,’ the Wonderwall icon added for good measure to the string of tweets on May 24, 2016.

This also included a strange reference to Club Tropicana and Wham, possibly linked to the spat the pair had a George Michael’s house during the 2012 London Olympics celebrations.

Then let his feelings towards Oasis very, very clear (Picture: Liam Gallagher/ Twitter)

‘I’m ere all wk more entertaining than your shower of s**t so called Rock stars Rock n Roll for the toffs [sic],’ Liam continued.

And just to make it crystal clear who he was talking about, Liam then tweeted a picture of his brother, simply captioned: ‘Potato’.

Liam brands Noel a ‘miserable arse billionaire’

Two years ago, fans saw a rare interaction between the Gallagher brothers on X – although as usual, it wasn’t favourable.

On January 1, 2022, Noel shared a demo song from his upcoming Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds album.

Trying To Find A World That’s Been And Gone: Part 1 (Demo) came accompanied by a little note to fans that said we ‘didn’t actually get there in the end’.

He explained that this ‘offering’ came as he finished writing the album and wished everyone the ‘best night’, hoping to ‘catch up somewhere in the summer’.

While fans replied with plenty of support for the new track, Liam was less than enthusiastic about it.

‘Miserable arse cheer up you billionaire,’ he quipped in the comments, amassing more responses, likes, and retweets than Noel’s original post.

Liam wasn’t finished on his mini-rampage against his brother as he replied to fans, adding: ‘He is real, a real 🛎 end.’

One fan, Lily, told him not to ‘start 2022 with this negativity’ but the Beady Eye frontman replied: ‘Im trying to be positive but that sound is depressing.’

He then declared: ‘I’d breath life n soul into it he sounds like he’s depressed.’

No word on how he feels about this track now the band is back together.

Noel calls Liam a pigeon – only to be dismissed as his ‘former brother’

2017 saw Liam taking aim at Noel again, but this one was a little more provoked than other X jabs.

Noel had been performing on stage and called his younger brother ‘a common pigeon’, suggesting he needed to see a psychiatrist.

He also hit out at the ‘parka monkeys’ who were still demanding an Oasis reunion and claiming his solo music wasn’t cutting it.

‘Gotta address the s**t that come out my former brother’s mouth he’s on a journey and needs to learns things,’ said Liam.

Noel is apparently ‘rude’ (Picture: Liam Gallagher/ Twitter)

Continuing on his rant, he added: ‘You’re your own boss you put your own records out you write your own s**t you play every instrument you mange your self your the f**king man… Your f**ng rude. [sic]’

Liam declared ‘the only way’ Noel became famous and successful was ‘from the beautiful people who put you there’.

He then signed off with a warning to ‘be careful’ which he said was ‘with love and concern’.

Liam slams Noel for skipping One Love Manchester gig

On a more serious note, some jabs have been thrown after tragic events – including the One Love Manchester concert in 2017.

The charity event was put on after the Manchester Arena bombing during an Ariana Grande concert, which left 22 people dead.

Numerous stars joined the concert, including Ariana, Miley Cyrus, Niall Horan, Little Mix, and Justin Bieber.

Fans had anticipated that Noel and Liam would reunite for the one-off tribute concert and began to hurl abuse at the former when he did not show.

‘Manchester I’d like to apologise for my brothers absence last night very disappointed stay beautiful stay safe LG x,’ tweeted Liam the day after the gig.

However, a spokesperson for One Love then addressed the ‘negativity’, clarifying Noel nor Oasis were ever listed to perform.

They said: ‘Sunday’s concert was a huge success and we are dismayed that there is negativity aimed towards Noel Gallagher. Neither Noel nor Oasis were ever going to perform.

‘We were extremely pleased when, last week, Noel not only gave his blessing for us to use his songs, but also told us that he was donating his royalties from Don’t Look Back in Anger to the fund. Let’s keep the positivity please.’

Noel blasts Liam’s ‘s**t’ new record

In a rare jab from Noel’s camp, the High Flying Birds frontman took aim at Liam’s music in 2020.

Lima had shared single Once and was gearing up to release his second solo album Why Me? Why Not.

Clearly his brother wasn’t a fan as he gave an impromptu verdict on the track over X , dismissing his brother as simply ‘someone’.

He sort of promoted it … in his own way (Picture: Noel Gallagher/ Twitter)

‘Nothing to see here dudes and dollies,’ he began. ‘Silence is still golden..and just in case you weren’t already aware someone still has a new single out.

‘I believe it’s called “Once” which is the exact amount of times it should be played.’

He wasn’t finished there though as he sent another tweet which said: ‘It’s still available in all good record shops but mostly in the s**t ones. Happy Sunday.’

Yikes.

Liam rips into Noel’s height

Sibling rivalry isn’t complete without some height jokes and Liam certainly had some creative language when roasting his brother.

Last year, in one of his usual tweeting sprees, Liam replied to a fan named Meri, who asked what he would do ‘if he woke up being Noel one day?’

Obviously, he’d react how you’d expect. He said he would ‘scream’.

Not done there, Liam added: ‘Somebody pass me the step ladders as I can’t reach the cornflakes on the table and I’m starving.’

Noel stands at 5′ 9″ while his brother towers above him at 5′ 10″ – not much difference but evidently enough to be roasted.

The same day, Meri also asked if Liam was a ‘witch’ as he said he liked astrology, to which he responded: ‘I’m a b***h.’

Noel ‘must be twisting his tofu’ according to Liam

You have to hand it to Liam, he certainly has a way with words.

Again in late 2017, seemingly at the height of his brother slamming antics, the C’mon You Know singer fired shots about Noel’s music.

He tweeted: ‘Must be twisting his tofu that his best work was sung and nailed by his younger brother oh well as you were LG x’

Noel isn’t vegan or even vegetarian but clearly is a fan of tofu – or so says his brother.

The tofu chat came back around again in 2020 when the Dream On singer released a demo of Don’t Stop.

This particular version omitted Liam’s vocals and guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthur’s riffs, angering Liam.

He wrote: ‘Oi tofu boy if your gonna release old demos make sure I’m singing on it and boneheads playing guitar on it if not it’s not worth a w**k.’

Liam causally signed off with his trademark ‘as you were LG x.’

Liam holds decade-long grudge over soup remark

A decade-long soup grudge sounds ridiculous but this was actually spawned from Noel’s comments that Liam was the ‘angriest man’ ever.

In 2009, fresh off the big split, the guitarist did an interview with Q magazine, during which he held nothing back when it came to his feelings about his brother.

In a now iconic comment, Noel said: ‘Liam is… rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy. He’s the angriest man you’ll ever meet.

‘He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.’

It wasn’t until 2019 that Liam hit back directly, posting a tweet with the caption: ‘happymanwithaforkinaworldofsoup’.

He shared a video, in which Liam sits at a table with a bowl of soup and attempts to eat it with a fork.

In the clip, he thanked fans for buying tickets to his show and said: ‘You’ve made a very so-called-angry man, very very happy.’

Noel denies £100million reunion claims

In 2020, Liam was teasing fans once more and decided to make a bold claim that Oasis had been offered £100million to reform.

Stirring the pot, he tweeted: ‘Wahey we’re getting back together Noel Gallagher being minted and rich as f*** he’s doing it for nothing me being a desperate **** and have f*** all else going for himself I’m doing it for the cash c’mon you know LG x.’

Referring to his 2017 song Greedy Soul, Liam added: ‘ ‘We’ve been offered 100 million pounds for a tour still not enough for the greedy soul oh well stay young LG.’

This particular tweet sent fans into overdrive (Picture: Liam Gallagher/ Twitter)

However, Liam’s usual sarcasm was definitely present (Picture: Liam Gallagher/ Twitter)

This came a few months after he had joked he was going to ‘split up’ with himself after album three, as he didn’t ‘think I’ll be able to work with myself any longer.’

For an extra dose of sarcasm, the singer continued: ‘I can write what I like and so can he but I think it’s for the best.’

He then tweeted: ‘I intend to retire as solo artist after album no3 as I have just had a call from my brother begging me to start oasis again in 2022 if you believe in life after love c’mon you know LG x.’

Noel even had to address the joke (Picture: Noel Gallagher/ Twitter)

Fans were in meltdown over the possibility and news of his antics reached Noel’s clearly tired ears.

Putting speculation to rest, he wrote: ‘To whoever might be arsed: I am not aware of any offer from anybody for any amount of money to reform the legendary Mancunian Rock’n’Roll group Oasis.

‘I am fully aware though that someone has a single to promote so that’s maybe where the confusion lies.’

They may not have reunited for 2022 but 2025 is looking far more promising – get your sunglasses on and keep the dream alive.
