Paris Hilton has hit back at comments and defended not putting a life jacket on her son while he was wandering around a boat.

The heiress, 43, is mum to son Phoenix, who she welcomed in January 2023 via surrogate, and to baby girl London, who was born last November.

She and her husband Carter Reum, also 43, have previously shared their decision to not share pictures of their daughter’s face publicly until recently.

However, Paris has been some clips of their family life on social media, and her two toddlers more recently.

In one video, posted on Wednesday, the socialite shared a video on TikTok of Phoenix walking and crawling around a catamaran.

‘Watching Phoenix explore the world has been so special to me! I am so grateful to be a #SlivingMom,’ she captioned the clip.

The 19-month-old was walking and crawling on a net above open water, as well as on the boat’s deck, as he giggled and called out ‘Mama’.

The short video has sparked controversy, with many followers commenting on Phoenix not wearing a life jacket.

Deb wrote: ‘Momma, please have him wear a life jacket always on a boat!! Stuff happens. That’s why they’re called accidents. With love.’

Kassie said: ‘My anxiety not seeing him in a life jacket! Can never be too safe on the water!’

‘Please from one mom to another.. life jacket!’ @kimmers05 added.

While some followers did defend Paris, and called her a ‘fantastic’ mother, she also reacted to the comments.

She wrote: ‘Hey Mamma’s, thank you for the advice & always caring about my #CutesieCrew.

‘It’s a big boat & my husband and I are following him around everywhere & watching like hawks. My babies are my world!’

This isn’t the first time Paris has been forced to defend her parenting skills online.

Late last year, the Simple Life star was branded ‘out of touch’ after footage from Paris In Love went viral, which appeared to show her changing her son’s nappy for the first time when he was around a month old.

Viewers instantly took aim at the mom-of-two, before she later addressed the scenes in a lengthy message, insisting that she is ‘fully involved’ with her children, and that she was simply ‘playing into’ her public persona on camera.

‘Hey there, it’s Paris. Just wanted to clear the air about something,’ she began on X. ‘On my show, #ParisInLove, I joked about changing a diaper for the first time, which, let’s be honest, was just me having a bit of fun – as you can see I changed his diaper the night I brought him home.

‘But, in all seriousness, when it comes to being a mom, I’m fully involved and loving every moment of it. It’s interesting how a playful comment can be taken so seriously.

‘Even though this season was the most real, authentic and raw I have ever been with my fans. Sometimes, I play into the whimsical character I portrayed on #TheSimpleLife. It’s a role that’s hard to shake off completely.’

‘While I love a good laugh, I also believe in being real and responsible, especially as a parent,’ she added. ‘Let’s remember to find the humor in life, but also to cherish and respect the real moments.

‘Thanks for understanding, Happy Holidays and much love to you all! #SlivingMom.’
