The Voice UK coach LeAnn Rimes has been jokingly mocked by a contestant who ends up on her team.

The singer, 42, began her music career when she was just a teenager, since going on to sell a staggering 48 million records worldwide.

This year she has also become a coach on both The Voice Australia and The Voice UK, the latter of which returns to screens tonight.

Ahead of the premiere episode, a clip of one stand-out moment has been shared on social media.

It shows a woman called Joy on stage after her audition, who invites LeAnn up on stage after the coach says she would ‘love to hear something different’ after turning her chair for the contestant.

As the crowd cheers and the other coaches look shocked and excited, she jumps out of her chair and makes her way up, where they then start singing a cover of Your Song by Elton John.

However Joy then pokes fun at LeAnn while they sing the lyrics of Elton John’s Your Song(Picture: ITV)

After admitting she doesn’t know some of the lyrics LeAnn pushes on, but when hilarity ensues when she sings: ‘I don’t have much money…’

At that point, Joy’s eyes widen and she questions, ‘really?’, sending everyone in the studio into fits of laughter.

She then sings the line ‘I’d buy a big house where we both could live,’ with her singing partner smiling and nodding in excitement.

The women then finish the song, with everyone in the studio giving them a standing ovation for their rendition of the classic.

Sharing the clip on Instagram, LeAnn also said working on The Voice UK kept her on her toes.

‘When I walked onto my first day of filming The Voice UK, I had no idea of what to expect. This show really put my improv skills to the test. It’s all about rolling with what’s in front of you and I have to say I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the challenge and that energy!’ she explained.

‘So, when this happened, as you’ll see by my face, I was in a bit of a shock because O was SERIOUSLY JET LAGGED, as I just flew in from Australia and walked straight on to set and to be honest, I wasn’t sure I could even walk to the stage at this point, 😂 but a magical moment happened… #REALLY.’

Then tagging Joy, she wrote: ‘You are pure joy and I am so honoured that I got to share this special moment with you.’

LeAnn then said she couldn’t begin to explain how much fun was had filming the series, in which she teased the coaches ‘laughed, cried and got a little competitive’, telling viewers to tune in tonight to see why.

Many loved the tease of what was to come on the show, with Alison Hammond commenting, ‘Wow <3’, while fan Kyle wrote: ‘This has to be THE BEST and most epic audition clip from any of The Voice franchises…’

After the exit of coaches Olly Murs and Anne-Marie last season, the other coaching chair will be filled by McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, while Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am are returning to their roles after joining the series when it launched in 2021.

LeAnn released her first single, Blue, at 13 years old, with her 1996 album of the same name certified six times Platinum.

The following year her song How Do I Live hit the charts, becoming one of the best-selling singles of the 1990s.

Since then, she’s released another 16 albums and also appeared in several TV shows and films.

The Voice UK returns tonight at 8pm to ITV1.
