Louis Tomlinson has confessed that a freebie from Liam or Noel Gallagher might be the only way he gets to see Oasis next year.

The legendary 90s group, who scored eight UK number ones between 1994 and 2009, announced a surprise comeback tour last month.

Dates have been confirmed for the summer of 2025 and millions of people tried – often in vain – to get their hands on the hottest tickets in town.

Amid complaints about huge online queues and Ticketmaster’s ‘dynamic pricing’ model, a huge number of fans were left empty handed and disappointed.

One person in that unlucky crowd was One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, who lost out on the chance to see Oasis perform live for the first time in 15 years.

He told Sky Sports of the troubles he faced when trying to get to one of 17 live dates: ‘I didn’t [get Oasis tickets]. I was in the queue, but I never got a number. I did try, I did try.’

When asked whether he was hoping to be given a ticket as a special guest, which would get him free entry to either Heaton Park, Wembley Stadium, Murrayfield, the Principality Stadium, or Croke Park, he said: ‘I have my fingers crossed.’

Louis has been a fan of Oasis for some time, crediting both the Manchester band and Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys with influencing his solo work since leaving One Direction.

In 2017, speaking to the BBC, he said: ‘[I don’t want to] write these Hollywood-esque songs that talk about some unfathomable crazy love story. I’m so bored of that.

‘Because I’m from up north, I grew up loving the likes of the Arctic Monkeys and Oasis. And the way they tell stories is such an effortless thing. It’s real, it’s honest and it’s to the point, you know?’

Louis’ debut album Walls reached number four on the UK album charts in 2020 and produced the top 40 single Miss You, while his second album Faith in the Future topped the album charts in 2022.

Someone who’s not a fan of Oasis is Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega, who has confessed to never really listening to the Wonderwall group before.

She told NME: ‘I actually just heard Wonderwall for the first time a month ago. I actually sat down and listened to the whole thing. I listen to Blur. I haven’t really gotten into Oasis.’

Meanwhile, comedian Dara O Briain has joked that he’ll be using ‘static pricing’ for his upcoming UK tour across 2025 and 2026, saying: ‘Our Market Tracker Technology will assess demand and instantaneously not change the price in any way.’

Tickets for Oasis’ 2025 UK tour sold out pretty quickly after chaotic scenes once they went on general sale, but fans were left feeling let down over the prices – some tickets cost more than £300.

People buying through Ticketmaster later on Saturday afternoon, just hours after the tickets went on sale, were shocked to see £150 standing tickets suddenly jump to over £350.

This was due to Ticketmaster’s pricing policy for ‘in demand’ tickets, which sees prices climb as more and more people attempt to buy them – ostensibly in a bid to discourage ticket touts and scammers.

Now, Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has chimed in on the ‘depressing’ state of buying gig tickets, calling out everything from scalpers to sky-high official prices.

In a statement made on Sunday evening, she said: ‘After the incredible news of Oasis’ return, it’s depressing to see vastly inflated prices excluding ordinary fans from having a chance of enjoying their favourite band live.

‘This Government is committed to putting fans back at the heart of music. So we will include issues around the transparency and use of dynamic pricing, including the technology around queuing systems which incentivise it, in our forthcoming consultation on consumer protections for ticket resales.

‘Working with artists, industry and fans we can create a fairer system that ends the scourge of touts, rip-off resales and ensures tickets at fair prices.’
