MI5 thriller Slow Horses is returning to screens for a fourth season in just a matter of hours, so it might be time to start catching up on the first three instalments.

The spy drama, based on Mick Herron’s Slough House novels, stars Gary Oldman as leader Jackson Lamb, and follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents working in the department not-so-affectionately known as Slough House.

After being exiled to the MI5 dumping ground department due to their career-ending mistakes, they must work to navigate the intelligence world’s smoke and mirrors to defend the country.

According to the release, season four will open with ‘a bombing that detonates personal secrets, rocking Slough House’s already unstable foundations’.

One season three audience review by Craig B states: ‘This show simply keeps getting better and better. Season three is amazing so far, 3 episodes in for me.

‘Acting is amazing and so is the story. Gary Oldman is simply perfect as the lead character. This one deserves a movie at some point. They have a great balance between the spy craft and humor of Oldman as the lead.’

Roberto E added: ‘Fantastic show. I couldn’t stop watching until the very end. Twisted, intelligent scripts with awesome actors; the way TV series should be.’

‘Best thing on TV. This season was really exciting and had me gripped. I wish it could have lasted longer but I binged it,’ Robert A said.

Slow Horses season four will be available to watch on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, September 4.
