Gordon Ramsay has admitted the most ’embarrassing’ thing he went through during his recovery from a gruesome bike accident.

The TV chef, has 57, confessed to needing help in parts of his life that he never expected as he recovered from the ‘brutal’ incident.

Gordon revealed earlier this year that he nearly died after crashing in the US state of Connecticut while on holiday with family and friends.

Sharing before and after photos, he showed how his helmet and cycling gear had been badly damaged in the accident, with the front of his helmet almost completely crushed.

The left side of his body was covered in horrendous bruising after damaging his ribcage, saying that he was ‘lucky to be here’ after showing his injury to fans.

Now, three months on, the Hell’s Kitchen star has given details of his recovery, confessing to the difficulties he’s faced while trying to bounce back.

He told Men’s Health: ‘I couldn’t even put my f**king socks and pants on. [My assistant, Justin], he used to dress me in the morning. I felt like a f**king 95-year-old man. Asking a 30-year-old kid to put my f**king underpants on was embarrassing.’

Despite not breaking any bones during the accident, he still had great difficulty moving and carrying on with his day-to-day life, saying that the week after the crash was ‘brutal’.

He told fans: ‘I’m lucky to be standing here. I am in pain, it’s been a brutal week. I’m sort of getting through it, but I cannot tell you the importance of wearing a helmet.’

Dad-of-six Gordon, however, has vowed to get back on the bike (literally) and continue with his quest to maintain fitness as he approaches his 60s.

‘I think about the pace I work at and the responsibilities I take on, then I think about the drive that I have. Fitness is the foundation. You’re on your own, up a mountain, on a bike, trail, run, swim. I find training relaxing because it just gets me out of that fast lane.’

He continued: ‘I could sit back, put my feet up, buy a boat and f**k off to the Caribbean, but I have no interest in that. I love the jeopardy and I can do that because I’m fit. I can do that because I’ve got the drive. When I haven’t got the drive, then I’ll decide to hang up the hat.’

And Gordon aimed to pass on that drive and passion for fitness to his children, with twins Holly and Jack, both 24, being gifted a place in a marathon for their birthdays.

‘While a lot of our friends buy their kids cars and f***ing iPads, we got our kids marathon places for their 18th birthday. You’re running the marathon for Great Ormond Street. Here’s your bib. Now move your a**e.’

Gordon and his wife Tana already have six children together – 25-year-old Megan, Holly and Jack, 21-year-old Tilly, four-year-old Oscar, and baby James.

In recent weeks, Tana made the heartbreaking admission that she still feels ‘guilt’ over the miscarriage she suffered at 20 weeks eight years ago.

‘I still suffer so much guilt,’ she told Lorraine Candy and Trish Halpin on the Postcards from Midlife podcast. ‘Did I, should I have known something?

‘Should I have done something differently? It’s one of those things that some days you’re absolutely fine and you can kind of justify it.’
