A ‘livid’ Jeremy Clarkson fan stormed out of the star’s new Farmer’s Dog pub after driving almost three hours.

Billy and his wife Emma, who are fans of Clarkson’s Farm, made the long journey from Southend in Essex to the Grand Tour star’s new Cotswolds venture, which reportedly cost £1,000,000.

However, after making the trip, Billy has insisted he ‘will never go back’ after waiting in line for 30 minutes with people waiting to get inside.

He claimed that another customer told him there was a sign by the door which read: ‘Due to maintenance we are only able to serve bar snacks today.’

He said people were angry after travelling from all over and queuing to try the locally sourced food on the menu.

He told Express Online: ‘We arrived for lunchtime around 1pm and they let us all wait in line without announcing the kitchen was closed. Why not tell people before they stand outside for 30 minutes?’

He insisted the bar snacks were ‘rubbish’, with the items on offer including ‘pickled eggs, four sausages on a plate with a dip, and scotch eggs which didn’t look good’.

Billy ranted: ‘I was looking forward to trying a proper Lancashire hotpot, I didn’t drive all this way for pickled eggs.’

Meanwhile, the couple insisted there was ‘no mention’ of the ‘lack of a proper menu’ on the venue’s website, and Jeremy Clarkson not being on site added insult to injury.

Billy said: ‘After all that, it’s a very ordinary pub. Very average, I was totally underwhelmed. It wasn’t just me, several people in line just walked off furious as well. I definitely will not be visiting again, I’m livid.’

Other customers have complained on TripAdvisor about a £2 parking charge with one punter calling the visit a ‘rip off’, although the majority of the site’s reviews so far are positive.

User Pippinsfolly said: ‘The menu is what you might expect from a good pub and it didn’t disappoint.

‘The quality of ingredients was excellent and the hard-working staff were so welcoming and attentive. Of course, the beer and cider were wonderful, chilled and thirst quenching.’

On the pub’s website, Jeremy has described the Farmer’s Dog as more than ‘just a pub’, highlighting the food in particular.

The description says it’s ‘the first Hawkstone filling station’, adding: ‘But it’s not just a pub. It’s also a restaurant.

‘And in the garden, there’s a farm shop, and a butcher, and an off licence, and a bar and an outpost where you can grab a fantastic meaty snack to enjoy on the lawns.
