Tommy Fury looks set to appear on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! following his break-up with Molly-Mae Hague – and he needs it.

The professional boxer made his TV debut in 2019 when appearing on the fifth season of Love Island, where he met now ex-fiancée Molly-Mae.

However last month the pair, both 25, shocked fans when they confirmed they had broken up after five years of dating.

The former couple, who share one-year-old daughter Bambi, have also been rocked by cheating rumours – which he has denied.

Now, a few weeks on, Tommy is reported to be in talks to head into the jungle later this year.

‘Tommy is a great name as a potential campmate as he’s already known to the ITV audience, and he’d be brilliant in the Bushtucker Trials,’ an ITV source told The Sun.

‘Bosses are talking with lots of celebrities and are determined to make this year’s line-up one of the best.

‘They also know that the super-fit boxer is likely to be a prime candidate for the annual hunk-in-the-jungle shower scenes,’ they added.

Discussing how appearing on the show could affect Tommy’s career, PR brand and culture expert Lynn Carratt told Metro.co.uk how he would likely be looking to get back in the public’s good graces.

‘I feel his reputation has been damaged because of the allegations, but we need to be clear that they are just allegations, which he denies,’ she said.

‘However, he will want to repair his reputation and come across as likeable.’

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Lynn explained how Tommy would need to think carefully moving forward and making certain career decisions.

‘I think public interest in him will decline now that he isn’t with Molly-Mae,’ she explained.

‘I do think he needs he needs to sit down and focus on what he needs to do next to stay relevant and that will be what he is talking about with his team. He wouldn’t want to sell out either.

‘We have seen what I’m A Celebrity can do for people’s careers, and it can open many more doors and offer a career resurgence.’

She also said he would be a perfect candidate as a campmate.

‘He would be really good at the challenges, and we already know viewers do like him because of how popular he was on Love Island,’ she said.

‘It would also help ITV to have him on for the show’s viewing figures and attract more Gen Z audiences.’

Although Lynn doesn’t believe Tommy could be offered one of the show’s most lucrative contracts, she said he could definitely command a fee of around £250,000 to appear.

Despite Molly-Mae revealing last week she never plans to speak publicly about their relationship break-down, there’s a strong chance viewers and producers would expect Tommy to comment on it if he was to appear on the series.

But, as Lynn explained, ‘I think you can still go on a show like that and be mindful of what you say about your relationship and the split’, adding how Mike Tindall still spoke about the Royal family without causing too much uproar.

‘He seems like a good father and wouldn’t want to say anything that would come out in the public eye,’ she added.

While Tommy’s reality TV return hasn’t been confirmed, Lynn says she is doubtful he would consider starring in another dating show.

‘He doesn’t strike me as the sort of man that would go back on a dating show, especially after what he’s had with Molly-Mae and how much the public has been invested in their relationship,’ she said.

‘I think something like I’m A Celebrity or Strictly would be the sort of shows for him – the top reality shows that have the biggest viewers.

‘He is also quite a shy person. If you think about Molly-Mae and Tommy, despite the amount of publicity they get, they don’t really court the limelight. You never really saw them together on red carpets – I don’t think we will see him on something like Celebs Go Dating anytime soon.’

However, Lynn said she wouldn’t be surprised if Molly-Mae agreed to star in a fly-on-the wall reality show or documentary about life after Tommy.

‘But I don’t think she would go into their split and instead focus on life as a working mum,’ she explained.

After Love Island, in 2019 Tommy appeared on an ITV2 series called The Boxer and The Ballroom Dancer alongside fellow Islander Curtis Pritchard, in which they swapped careers while being followed by cameras.

Last year he also featured in his brother Tyson Fury’s Netflix documentary series, At Home with the Furys.

The former couple were also said to have been set to star in an Amazon Prime documentary series, however it is no longer going ahead after their split.

Metro.co.uk has contacted ITV and representatives for Tommy Fury for comment.

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! returns to ITV later this year.
