Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles voice actor Peter Renaday dies aged 89-Sabrina Barr-Entertainment – Metro

Peter Renaday, one of the original voice actors on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, has died aged 89.

The show – which aired from 1987 until 1996 – starred Renaday as Master Splinter, a mutant rat who acts as a sage to the titular Turtles.

The news of the late actor’s death was shared on X by Townsend Coleman, who voiced the Turtle Michaelangelo on the comic book TV show.

‘Folks, I’m devastated this morning to learn of the passing yesterday of our dear sensei, Peter Renaday,’ Coleman wrote.

‘Pete was one of the most genuine, salt of the earth people I have ever known and I will miss him dearly.

‘I had the privilege of visiting with him a month ago and he was as vibrant as ever, at 89 just as endearingly silly, smart and talented as I’ve always known him to be.

‘Ugh, this is hard… a Disney legend and our dear Master Splinter— rest well, my sweet friend.’

According to TMZ, Renaday was found unresponsive as police officers were conducting a welfare check at his home.

While a cause of death has not been determined, it’s reportedly been suspected that it was due to natural causes.

In addition to his role as Master Splinter on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, he also starred in TV shows including The Transformers, Superman: The Animated Series, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien.

He voiced Abraham Lincoln in The Hall of Presidents at Walt Disney World, as well as Henry and Max in Country Bear Jamboree at the entertainment resort’s Magic Kingdom.
