Vanessa Feltz had a morning to remember after the Channel 5 studios were evacuated following the triggering of a fire alarm.

The TV personality and broadcaster, 62, shared a video on social media which showed members of the Channel 5 team waiting in the car park of the studios.

It meant that Friday’s broadcast of The Jeremy Vine Show had to be pulled off the air as employees and TV stars awaited further information on the incident.

While explaining the event to her followers on Instagram, Vanessa revealed that a fire engine had turned up, making her think the fire alarm wasn’t a hoax.

She said: ‘Oh for goodness sake, a fire alarm! Nobody quite knows if it’s real or pretend, but we think it’s real because there’s an actual fire engine and the building’s been evacuated!’

Thinking about the fate of Friday’s edition of the daytime debate TV programme, which she was scheduled to appear on today, she said: ‘Dunno what’s going on with the show.’

Jeremy, 59, normally hosts the show from its start time of 9.15am until 11.30am, at which point Jeremy makes the journey from Channel 5 to Radio 2 to begin his afternoon broadcast.

At which point, Storm Huntley, 37, normally takes over presenting duties for the last hour and a bit – then from 12.45pm, Channel 5 begins its usually schedule programming.

As she has done since she first became a relief presenter in July, Vanessa was meant to be sitting for Storm on Friday, September 13 – but it proved to be an unlucky day after all.

Unfortunately for Vanessa, the gods of fate intervened and instead left the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant standing on the ITN building car park.

Vanessa later uploaded another picture to her Instagram story that indicated she did make it back into the studio, standing in front of Storm’s set background.

It’s not yet known whether there actually was a fire at the Channel 5 studio site, but Metro.co.uk have reached out to the network for more information.

The network returned to its home on Grays Inn Road in central London back in 2016, where The Jeremy Vine Show has been broadcast from ever since.

Channel 5 originally moved there in 1997 as it became the nation’s fifth terrestrial channel 27 years ago, but moved out in the 2000s before the return in the 2010s.

The incident with the fire alarm comes just weeks after Vanessa revealed that her daughter was seriously injured after falling on an unsafe piece of pavement.

On a July episode of This Morning, Vanessa explained how her daughter Allegra was walking home in London when she took the dangerous tumble.

‘She was coming back from work on Friday around 6 o’clock and the sun was shining,’ she explained. ‘[But] she went flying, hurtled through the air, and we think she hit her face on another piece of uneven pavement as she fell and she is now extremely badly injured.’

Vanessa continued: ‘She was lying in a pool of her own blood, and nobody knew where she was bleeding from and she had to be taken to hospital.’
