Cillian Murphy showed off his incredibly toned physique as he trained ahead of the upcoming Peaky Blinders film.

The actor, 48, who played Tommy Shelby in the hit Netflix drama, sported a grey t-shirt outside of a Dublin gym which accentuated his bulging muscles.

The Oppenheimer star wore black jogging bottoms with a matching cap and sunglasses as he arrived at the venue with another man in workout gear.

It comes ahead of the eagerly anticipated Peaky Blinders film, which as yet has no official release date.

‘It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me,’ the 28 Days Later star said in June.

‘It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.’

Cillian will be reprising his iconic role for the film, with Dune actress Rebecca Ferguson and Saltburn star Barry Keoghan joining the cast.

With these new pictures Cillian looks miles away from his role as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the multi-award-winning biopic Oppenheimer.

The Dark Knight actor lost a considerable amout of weight to portray the scientist famed for overseeing the development of the first nuclear weapons, with his co-stars noting he looked ’emaciated’.

‘I didn’t enjoy any of it. I don’t recommend any of it.’ Cillian told host Jimmy Kimmel while discussing his dramatic weight loss on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

‘He was insecure about his physicality,’ he continued, discussing the real Oppenheimer. ‘But you had this hugely strong mind and this really frail body, so it was useful.’

The star shared his least favourite parts of losing weight for the role, warning others not to try the same.

‘I think it’s going to bed hungry,’ he said. ‘I wouldn’t do that by choice. It was always cold. I sound like Tiny Tim or something.

‘[Christopher Nolan] liked to keep the A/C on during that particular part of the shoot. I think because the character is being humiliated and he feels awful, and I was so hungry and so cold, it kind of helped.’

Cillian is also set to star in the upcoming 28 Days Later sequel, 28 Years Later, with Danny Boyle and Alex Garland on board as director and writer respectively.
