‘Run don’t walk’ cry shoppers as they race to Sainsbury’s for £28 jacket that ‘fits like a dream’

A TOP supermarket has released an autumn jacket that “fits like a dream” and boasts an on-trend print – and shoppers are racing to snap it up.

Sainsbury’s in-house fashion brand, Tu Clothing, unveiled their Leopard Print Denim Jacket on the rails as part of their new season collection.

Store bosses say: “You’ll be right on trend this season with our leopard print denim jacket.

“It features a standard collar, full button fastening and two side pockets.

“Wear with the matching jeans for perfect autumn style.”

The jacket is available in sizes eight to 24 online and in store.

But with just sizes 12, 14 and 16 left on the website, shoppers have been legging it to their nearest branch to bag it.

And while you’re there, you can also snap up the matching straight leg denim jeans – available in short, regular or long – for £22, or a £24 midi skirt in the same print.

After picking up the jacket in her local store, plus-sized fashionista Poppy gushed: “Run, don’t walk.

“Tu Clothing have a cropped boxy leopard print denim jacket. It fits a dream.

“Went in to buy my dinner, came out with a hacket and a pack full of briefs.”

A second echoed: “Girlies run to Tu Clothing for this leopard jacket.”

Another delighted shopper chimed in: “I love this jacket! Great pockets, fits well.”

Someone else chimed in: “I need the leopard jacket! I buy all my clothes from Sainsbury’s and always get so many compliments.”

Meanwhile, a fifth wrote: “Love a bit of animal print, especially for autumn.”

It comes just a week after savvy shoppers insisted Sainsbury’s have released “the coat of the season”.

They also claim it’s the perfect dupe for a much more expensive brand.

The supermarket is selling the wool-look trench coat, in brown, olive green and grey for only £45.

Fashion experts at Sainsbury’s claim that the coat is “perfect for layering when the weather isn’t as predictable as we’d like it.”

One fashionista gushed: “The perfect Cos dupes that came out a couple of years ago, I never got my hands on it but never stopped thinking about it.”

Is supermarket fashion the new high street?

DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in:

The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family.
Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a ‘strong growth in clothing’ and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.
Asda’s clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury’s clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year.
So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful?
Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it’s good quality too – with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative.
A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year.
Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.
