The show sees 10 of the UK’s best amateur clothes designers compete in challenges to show they’ve got what it takes to win their dream job at M&S.

In episode one of the show, the contestants showed off their skills by designing their own womenswear.

And Mel, who is known for her iconic leopard print look, urged the budding fashion designers to create some epic statement pieces.

The Spice Girl, looked effortlessly stylish as she judged the contestants whilst wearing the M&S Jersey Round Neck Midaxi Column Dress.

The dress is priced at £39.50, and comes in three different lengths; petite, regular, and long.

It comes in a forest green colour, and is available in sizes six to 20.

A description on the M&S website reads: “With its flattering seam and ruched detailing, this feminine jersey dress is perfect for making a statement.

“It’s made in a regular fit and cut in a flattering column shape.

“The long sleeves are slightly flared for a touch of drama and the flowing skirt falls to a modest midaxi-length hem.

“An easy round neckline completes this stylish piece.”

Mel paired the dress with M&S Leather Block Heel Pointed Ankle Boots, priced at £69.50.

The shoes come in an elegant cream colour, and are available in sizes three to eight.

To complete her look, Mel chose the M&S Gold Link Chain with CZ, priced at £35.

Host Vernon Kay also looked dapper sporting M&S’ Extra Fine Merino Blend Knitted Polo Shirt.

Why Everyone Is Loving M&S

Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale revealed to Fabulous why M&S is the shop of the moment. She explained:

“M&S has really pulled it out of the bag this season, there is so much good product to be excited about.
“A brand once known for its ‘frumpy fashion’ that notion is long gone with it now being one of the leading high street stores for womenswear.
“Its handbag range in particular is super strong with them selling 170% vs plan, with lots more designer dupes for just a fraction of the price.
“The brand is now also the #1 for style perceptions, compared to the #3 spot it had last year, this comes from a really strong design team focused on modernising the brand, not only taking into consideration how the pieces look, but how easy they are to wear also.
“Price is also a big factor with you being able to get many good quality pieces all for under £30.
“After having a sneak peak of the upcoming collection there are so many more amazing pieces that are dropping over the next few months to keep your eyes on.
“Think leopard print dresses, colourful co-ords, embroidered boho jackets, plus lots of swimwear and amazing accessories, as well as great wardrobe staples that will last year on year.”

The shirt is priced at £55, and comes in a light brown or grey colour.

It is available in sizes small to 2XL and can be purchased in store or on the M&S website.

Vernon completed his look with a pair of Twin Pleat Stretch Trousers, priced at £40.

The trousers come in black and navy and are available in three lengths, short, regular, and long.

M&S: Dress The Nation is on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm on Tuesdays.
