A huge 00s rock band is tipped to headline Glastonbury 2025 after surprisingly never having done the honours.
It’s that time of year again when everyone is beginning to speculate who could be performing on the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm in June.
Names already in the mix are the likes of Harry Styles, who is reportedly festival organiser Emily Eavis’ dream booking, Madonna, Eminem and the Spice Girls.
But, according to leading bookmaker Coral, Green Day are now the odds-on favourite to headline Glastonbury next year – along with Adele.
The American Idiot hitmaker and the Hello singer’s odds are currently 1-2, while Harry’s are 4-5, Madonna’s are 5-4, Eminem stands at 5-2 and the Spice Girls are 3.
‘Green Day are the big movers in our Glastonbury 2025 betting,’ said Coral’s John Hill. ‘The American band are now odds-on to have the time of their lives at the festival next summer.’

Not only have Green Day – comprised of frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool – never been Glastonbury headliners – they’ve never played at the festival full stop, a fact which has baffled their fans.
On Reddit, user NotUpinHere22 remarked: ‘It’s literally the biggest music festival in the world and they’ve never even played a smaller stage in the earlier years. It’s probably the only thing left to do in their career Is there anything actually to this does anyone know?’
Fabulous_Hooligan replied: ‘I reckon they will play there one day soon. I assume they’ve been asked. Probably just never worked out schedule-wise.’
Agreeing, FutureNytro added: ‘I think it’ll happen at some point tbh. Probably whenever their next album comes out.’

It comes after Mel C dropped the biggest hint the Spice Girls could reunite at Glastonbury for a headline set.
Speaking about performing on the Pyramid Stage, she told Chris Moyles on Radio X: ‘I think the absolute ultimate would be to do it with the Spice Girls. There’s nothing I would like more.’
The Wannabe singer added: ‘It would be a belting headliner.’
There are also rumours Cher could perform at Glasto for the first time ever after reportedly entering ‘meaningful talks’ with festival bosses.

The star, 78, hasn’t toured the UK since 2019, meaning a Glastonbury performance would make a long-awaited return.
‘It’s been a long time coming but she is finally in meaningful talks with Glastonbury about playing the legend’s slot,’ a source told The Sun.
Last year, Glastonbury’s headliners were Dua Lipa, Sza and Coldplay, who played the main slot on the Pyramid Stage for a historic fifth time.
The festival’s other memorable performances have included David Bowie’s 1971 show, where he performed the live debut of Changes, Beyonce’s 2011 set, which marked her biggest-ever crowd at the time, Sir Paul McCartney’s 2022 set, which made him the oldest artist to headline the event, and who can forget Sir Elton John’s final ever UK performance at the 2023 festival.
