Jedward star Edward Grimes has been left ‘devastated’ after ‘fighting on’ during a performance.
The musician, 32, is best known for being in the band alongside identical twin brother John, with the pair appearing on The X Factor in 2009.
Since then, they’ve released four albums and also represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest twice – first in Dusseldorf in 2011 and in Baku the following year.
One of the most beloved former acts to come from the now defunct reality talent show, they were performing in their home city to adoring fans last night.
However, disaster struck during an energetic number and Edward has now been left with a fractured ankle.
Sharing a photo backstage after the gig showing him sitting on a chair with his leg elevated and ankle wrapped in ice, the band’s official page captioned the Instagram post: ‘It’s not good guys. I’ve to get an X-ray tomorrow on my ankle. Really hurt it on stage in Dublin but didn’t want everyone and I fought on for you all.

‘Thanks to the paramedics.’
They then followed up that post with a photo of Jedward using crutches and standing in a moon boot while standing in a park and then sitting down by the ocean.
‘It’s fractured, I’m devastated that after all the years of performing my ankle gave in last night! Crazy 24hrs! Going to take it easy and heal! Thanks for all your kind messages!’ Edward wrote.

Edward has faced an excruciating injury on stage before.
In 2010 Jedward were performing at T4 On The Beach and were re-enacting their energetic Ghostbusters/Under Pressure routine when Edward collapsed in agony during the event in Weston-super-Mare.
He managed to continue the set alongside before being taken to hospital.
At the time their manager Louis Walsh revealed Edward was making a ‘quick recovery’ after tearing ligaments in his knee.
