Why M&S dominates the high-street
By Abby McHale, Deputy Fashion Editor
The past few years have seen big changes for Marks & Spencer.
A store that was once seen as somewhere that your granny shops for her cashmere before heading into the cafe for some lunch, it’s now one of the most popular stores on the high street.
After Maddy Evans formerly of Topshop became womenswear director in 2022 the brand has catapulted into a destination known as much for its fashion as its food.
Thanks to clever designs from Maddy and her team which at the heart still factor in comfort, functionality and wearability have created a range that cater to all generations.
The Gen Z Tik Tok generation have given the brand some viral sell outs and yet there are still plenty of options in there for the midlife ladies.
Plus the brand is getting even more exposure over the next six weeks, with a spot on prime time tv for its new ‘Dress The Nation’ show, seeking out its next big designer.
Presented by Vernon Kay and AJ Odudu, the show also features a whole range of celebrities including Mel B and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
The brand has really tapped into what its customers want, creating stylish pieces, at a good price point, that can be worn for seasons to come.
