Happy Gilmore fans, rejoice! As Adam Sandler has been spotted donning his golfing gear as filming begins for the 90s classic’s sequel.
Released in 1996, the original film, directed by Dennis Dugan, followed the prone-to-violence and foul-mouthed failed hockey player Happy (Sandler) as he joins a golf tournament to save his grandmother’s (Frances Bay) home from getting sold off.
It’s been almost 30 years since we saw Happy win the Tour Championship, but now Sandler is returning to the golf green in an eagerly-anticipated sequel which Netflix announced earlier this year.
The Hollywood icon revealed production had officially begun on the film earlier this month, sharing a picture of his iconic hockey jersey on his Instagram page.
And Sandler has since been spotted around New Jersey filming on the beach with a single golf club, and at a mini-golf facility.
One picture of the Uncut Gems star shows him raising a golf club above his head while wearing a blue hoodie and striking yellow jogging bottoms.

A video posted to TikTok shows the Grown Ups actor in a red-striped bathrobe walking down some front porch steps while carrying a bag of golf clubs.
Pictured shared on social media see Sandler at Farmview Golf Center in Washington Township wearing a purple hockey jersey, with mayor Matt Murello sharing a Facebook post praising the actor.
‘We were fortunate to host the filming of Happy Gilmore 2 in town yesterday at the Farmview Golf Centre on East Avenue,’ he began.
‘Adam Sandler was great, stopping to say hello to people that had come by midday and all of the production staff was very kind in letting me hang out on the set. I was glad to meet Steve and the Farmview Golf staff.

‘It was a very large production with hundreds of cast, crew and support staff and everyone in Washington Township worked hard to pull this off with short notice. Thank you to Netflix for showcasing a part of our beautiful town, and also thank you to all the township staff, the Washington Township Police Department, Hackettstown Police Department, our first responders and the Target Store Washington-Twp, which hosted the equipment and personnel tucks.
‘I can’t wait to see the scene in the final product of Happy Gilmore 2.’
Stone Hedge Farm, a garden and landscaping centre in the area, shared a picture of staff members posing for a photo with Sandler after filming for Happy Gilmore 2 saw the shop close.
The film does not yet have a release date (Picture: Universal/Everett/REX/Shutterstock)
They wrote in the caption: ‘Sorry for the inconvenience yesterday. Stone Hedge Farm was closed due to East Ave being shut down. We had the pleasure of hosting Adam Sandler and his crew while he was filming Happy Gilmore 2 at the Farm View Golf Center.
‘Adam was kind enough to take some time after a long hot day of filming to meet with our crew here. It was truly a pleasure to spend some time with him. We are anxiously awaiting for the release of this film!’
A release date has not been confirmed for the film, but Sandler is set to reprise his titular role alongside a cast including Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Benito Martínez Ocasio.
