Another compared it to Britney Spears’ outfit in her music video for …Baby One More Time.
But its latest look – a cardigan and skirt combo – has left some shoppers scratching their heads.
It includes the £10 Co-ord Checked Rara Mini Skirt and £13 Cropped Grey Cardigan with button-up detail.
Primark’s social media team shared a clip of them assembling the outfit on Instagram.
They paired it with £10 Round Toe Mary Jane Flats and £7 Flap Closure Shoulder Bag.
The team dubbed the outfit “a fresh take on campus chic”.
But Instagram users were convinced it was giving off juvenile vibes, rather than university.
“I thought these were kids clothes until you put down the bag and shoes,” one laughed.
“It’s a school uniform,” another joked.
A third shopper questioned if the outfit was “screaming Britney Spears” in her music video for …Baby One More Time.
The pop icon adorned a floaty midi skirt and grey cardigan for the video.
And while Primark’s skirt is more patterned, it’s easy to see where the shopper is coming from.
A blurb on the outfit reads: “With its mini length and playful tiers, you can now check off your need for a rara winter skirt.
“Featuring a floaty tiered design and a playful mini length, this skirt boasts muted red and burgundy checks for a preppy, patterned appearance.
“It’s perfect for channelling the dark academia aesthetic – pair it with the coordinating checked cropped shirt for a match made in fashion heaven.”
One shopper praised the skirt as “beautiful”, penning: “I can’t wait to buy that skirt.”
Fashion fans were rejoicing earlier this month after discovering Primark has filled its rails with cosy jumpers ahead of autumn.
