Fans are urged to manage their time playing EA Sports FC 25, as it could result in unexpected side effects, says a doctor who’s given tips for staying safe.
A recent report gave an indication of just how popular video games are, with over 70% of people in the US finding time to play on either PC, consoles, or mobile in 2024.
The report also found that people are spending more time per week playing games than ever before, but a doctor now quotes a different study and concludes that a severe gaming habit could lead to some unfortunate medical issues.
By playing video games for more than five hours a day, men are more likely to report issues with erectile dysfunction (ED), the report states, with Doctor Ashwin Sharma sending a warning ahead of the release of EA Sports FC 25 this week.
‘With any major game release, it’s common for gamers to spend extended hours sitting in front of screens. However, many may be unaware of the long-term impact a sedentary lifestyle can have on their overall health, particularly their sexual health,’ Sharma says.
‘Prolonged sitting and lack of physical activity can negatively affect circulation and cardiovascular health, which are critical for maintaining sexual function.’
Sharma refers to a 2016 study which found that men who spent five hours or more ‘using TV/video or computers’ were almost three times more likely to report issues with ED, compared to those who spent less than an hour doing the same activity.

Lifestyle changes such as increased exercise and healthier living are recommended for those who are affected, says Sharma.
He also adds that taking regular breaks and incorporating physical activity into your gaming session can help in avoiding ED.
‘I recommend getting up and moving around for at least 5-10 minutes every hour to help improve circulation, reduce the risks associated with prolonged sitting, and enhance overall wellbeing, says Sharma, who is a doctor for UK-based online pharmacy MedExpress.
‘In addition to these short breaks, integrating daily exercise, proper hydration, and a balanced diet will contribute to better cardiovascular health, energy levels, and long-term sexual health.’
The study also mentions other important factors that can cause ED, such as stress, alcoholism and drug use, obesity, and tobacco smoking.
