The Dead Daisies guitarist Doug Aldrich has been diagnosed with a ‘treatable’ throat cancer, the group announced in a statement.

The 00s rock band said Doug, 61, is undergoing surgery this week and will not be performing on their European tour as he recovers.

On X, The Dead Daises wrote: ‘Hi, to all Daisies fans. We have some crappy news we’d like to share unfortunately Doug has been diagnosed with a treatable throat cancer and has to undergo surgery this week.

‘Moving forward, Doug will not be available for the next run and subsequently long-time good friend & band mate from the Whitesnake days, Reb Beach, will be filling in for the upcoming European dates.

‘Please join us in wishing Doug all the best for a speedy recovery. We look forward to having him back on deck really soon.

‘We’ll keep you posted!’

Doug’s fans sent him well-wishes on X, with @davidcoverdale writing: ‘Sending as much love & healing as I can to my beautiful Brother Doug…’

@ToddLaTorre said: ‘Wishing him all the best with this procedure and healing.’

Echoing their sentiment, @Albatro05700291 said: ‘Wishing Doug the best. Take care of yourselves, guys!’

@Leverty also added: ‘Prayers to Doug, the band, family and friends.’

The Dead Daisies are a hard rock group that performs with a rotating line-up of musicians who have played with bands including Guns N’ Roses, Black Sabbath, and Motley Crue.

They were originally formed in Sydney, Australia by ex-INXS musician Jon Stenves and David Lowry, formerly of Mink, in 2012.

The Dead Daisies have released seven albums, including Make Some Noise, Burn It Down and this year’s Light ‘Em Up.

Prior to joining the group in 2016, Doug played with bands including  Whitesnake, Hurricane, House of Lords, Bad Moon Rising and Revolution Saints.

He has also released several solo albums.

Along with Doug and David, the current line-up Dead Daisies is vocalist John Corabi, drummer Tommy Clufetos and bassist Michael Devin.
