Molly-Mae Hague has just launched her new clothing brand Maebe, yet despite selling out her first release, fans are raging at the influencer’s price tags.

Former Love Island star Molly, 25, announced her new labour of love on September 9 after intense speculation on social media, revealing it has been ‘three years in the making’.

Following two weeks of hype, in which she spoke about her excitement for the brand’s future and allowed fans to sign up to the ‘accessible luxury’ clothing label’s website, Maebe released its first drop last night.

Made up of multiple garments, including a blazer, jeans and classic tops, the collection sold out within 24 minutes with fans scrambling to get their hands on their favourite items.

But despite Molly’s success, not every fan is excited about the brand, and many have a few choice words about the expensive price tag that comes with the label.

Taking to social media after the 7pm launch time on Sunday night, one fan, ishyamber97 admitted on Instagram that she was ‘gutted’ by the price tag.

‘Little bit gutted by the prices @mollymae 😔 considering how you started in the industry I really thought your brand would be more affordable, your collection is beautiful but it’s not affordable for a lot of people and that’s such a shame because a lot of people won’t be able to justify the prices of the items 😞’

The label has been categorised as ‘accessible luxury’ price and has been compared to Odd Muse and House of CB.

The cheapest item in the collection was a plain white T-shirt, priced at £35, while the most expensive was a grey blazer, priced at £140.

Other standout items include denim jeans priced at £90, a cardigan priced at £65, and a sleeveless top with dome buttons down the front for £50.

Social media user Tutulipsm was also upset by the pricing and wrote on Instagram, ‘maebe bring down those prices,’ while potential customer kayhix1 commented: ‘Love the jeans but not paying £90…sorry …’

One fan, alexzarax, disagreed and took to TikTok, where she examined the prices of a handful of items, appearing to be most in favour of the £90 jeans as they appear to be ‘good quality’ and ‘adjustable’ meaning they will last for a while.

As for the blazer, she said: ‘i just think £140 for a blazer that you could just get in Zara for £60 is a bit steep especially because Molly’s audience is quite the younger demographic and I don’t think people have £140 to be shelling out on just a grey blazer.’

Many agreed with elooooolaaa commenting: ‘That is extortionate… She’s a millionaire too so, what’s the reason?’

But others were quick to defend the influencer and her brand. Cali wrote: ‘I think we need to stop comparing things to PLT and Zara and take it for what it is. If the quality is good it would be a good investment/worth it.’

In light of the prices being released, fans have found cheaper versions of Maebe items, including a £9.50 slim fit tee from H&M and a similar grey blazer from Pretty Little Thing for £39.

Molly is yet to address the backlash to the prices.

It comes after the mum of one spoke to MailOnline last week marking her first interview since her breakup with former fiance, Tommy Fury, admitting she has a ‘good feeling’ about this new era of her life.

‘I have a really good feeling about this new era of my life and think it’s going to be so special and a great thing for me to focus on and put my time into as well as being a mum to Bambi.’

She added that launching the line this week has come at a perfect time. ‘It was really good timing for this to happen for me. It has all just aligned perfectly really. I am so excited about it… I really do have an amazing feeling about the brand. I see Maebe having a huge future.’

Molly and Tommy announced their split on August 14 after five years of dating. They have not revealed the reason for their break up.
