Married At First Sight UK viewers were left in shock after the latest dinner party, and dating expert Paul C Brunson has felt compelled to defend himself.

In the most recent episode, Eve Reid and Charlie Curtis’s relationship struggles were largely the focus.

Although the pair initially felt a spark on their wedding day, they experienced a tumultuous honeymoon filled with disagreements.

Upon returning to the UK, couples usually move in together at a London flat, but Eve decided to live separately from Charlie.

The newlyweds have regularly argued, and during the second dinner party, it was clear that some of their co-stars had taken sides.

Charlie was accused of being a bully by Polly Sellman, who was naturally upset at the accusation. Although Eve was critical of the timing, she ultimately thanked Polly for the confrontation – something Charlie was not aware of.

Seeing Charlie become so upset by the allegation, and isolated from the rest of the group, led to a strong reaction from viewers.

Viewer Lori wanted the dating experts Paul, Mel Schilling, and Charlene Douglas to help Charlie.

‘Experts need to stop this nonsense pretending they don’t see any footage and start outing people like Eve to the group,’ she wrote on X.

After spotting the post, Paul, 49, responded to clarify that this isn’t the case.

‘For the record, we don’t see any footage,’ he stated.

‘This is what makes it so challenging for us. We only see what happens at the dinner parties and commitment ceremonies. Everything else we see for the first time with you when the show airs.’

While Paul didn’t disclose his exact thoughts on the situation, plenty of MAFS fans did.

‘Here me out, am I the only one who can see Eve changes as soon as there is a dinner coming up and also tells Charlie all she wants to hear infront of the experts? Then wonders why Charlie gets so wound up when it’s back to them and Eve wants nothing to do with her?’ wrote Hannah Browne.

Laura Timmins questioned if there should be some production involvement.

‘It’s absolutely horrible to watch Charlie be so manipulated and broken down, then love-bombed all over again. The producers NEED to step in and remove Eve,’ their post on X read.

Eve was also criticised for choosing to stay in the experiment, but then refusing to take part in the tasks designed to strengthen their marriage.

‘Eve is so manipulative, it’s always Charlie’s fault, she will not take responsibility for anything that’s happened and thinks it’s acceptable to choose “stay” and then refuse to participate,’ noted Charlotte.

Liv summarised: ‘So scary that Eve, who has been treating Charlie awfully every day since their marriage, has somewhat been twisting the narrative. Thank god it’s been filmed for Charlie’s sake.’

Despite not getting to see everything that happens, the teaser for the upcoming episode suggests that the dating experts have questions for Eve and Charlie.

At one point, Mel, 52, tells Eve that she has lied about something, exactly what is yet to be disclosed.

‘The truth always comes out in the end….’ Charlie has teased on Instagram.

Married At First Sight UK continues tonight at 9pm on E4.
