A streamer has finally completed his jaw-dropping challenge of walking across Japan, south to north, which took him 169 days.

Streamers love a challenge, as we’ve seen time after time on platforms such as Twitch, Kick, and YouTube, with one example being the content creator who took on the world’s hardest Pokemon playthroughs.

There was also the streamer who broke the record for speedrun cookie baking so easily that a moderator re-evaluated the rules.

Now a little-known streamer has finished a self-imposed challenge he’ll never forget: walking the length of Japan, south to north. And it took him no less than 169 days to complete.

Sensei Martian, who has 9,000 followers on Twitch, decided he wanted to do something special and walked from Cape Sata in the south of Japan to Cape Soya in the north of Japan.

Other than taking a ferry to the northermost island of Japan, the streamer walked the entire way, which totalled 3,013 km (1,872 miles).

Martian started the walk in December 2023 and finished it this week, which means the trek lasted for a total of 10 months.

It was worth it in the end though, as when he finally arrived in Cape Soya the sun was setting over the ocean horizon.

The sunset wasn’t his only reward, as he was showered in donations and fans subscribing to his channel, while he walked the final distance, with many rooting him on.

Martian bought a one-way ticket from the US to Japan eight years ago, and has learnt the language and worked in the country ever since.

Once he was back in his hotel room, an emotional Martian told his fans, ‘Right now I’m on top of the world, literally and metaphorically, but… yeah. I’m just glad that I can hang out with [you] people.

‘I’m trying not to cry or get torn up. […] I don’t know how to thank everybody. It’s over. It’s done, finished. But not me, I’m not done. We have more stories to find and tell.’
