Viewers have declared Slow Horses ’the best thing on TV right now’ after watching its latest exhilarating episode.

The critically acclaimed spy drama’s fans have declared the Apple TV Plus show’s latest instalment ‘crazy and incredible’ after being left on a nail-biting cliffhanger.

The show follows MI5 rejects exiled to the bleak Slough House to undertake the intelligence service’s least glamourous tasks under the stewardship of the filthy Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman).

This time, in its fourth season, attentions are turned to Slough House agent River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) who starts his own covert investigation after his grandfather David (Jonathan Pryce) shoots an intruder to death in his bathroom.

In Slow Horse’s penultimate episode, which was added to the streamer earlier this week, Cartwright is finally taken in by the intelligence service after going on the run.

But while he travels to MI5 HQ with head of security Emma Flyte (Ruth Bradley), they are ambushed and a brutal shoot-out erupts after which Cartwright is taken hostage by the enemy with his fate to be decided in the next episode.

Slow Horses season 4 was one of the big contenders at the Emmy Awards and was up for gongs including outstanding drama and outstanding lead actor in a drama series for Gary.

It took home the coveted award for outstanding writing in a drama series, collected by screenwriter Will Smith.

While there is just one more episode of Slow Horses season 4 to go, it’s not all over as Apple confirmed it has commissioned season 5.

Like previous seasons it will be based on a Mick Herron novel, this time his book London Rules.

Slow Horses is available to stream on Apple TV Plus.
