It has been revealed that the late Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins, once created a James Bond song that never made it into the film.

The James Bond theme song is a huge accolade many performers hope to achieve in their lifetime.

Nancy Sinatra, Sam SmithBillie EilishAdele, and Shirley Bassey are just some of the pop legends to sing the famous song. But there are many artists who don’t quite make the cut.

Each time there is a new Bond film, artists send in audio files that can be rejected, and The Struts frontman Luke Spiller revealed that his tune written with the late Taylor Hawkins was one of the many songs to end up on the reject pile.

In an interview with The Sun Luke, 36, said: ‘I’ve always been obsessed with a lot of the Bond songs. I had a crack at it, but got beaten by Billie.’

‘It’s a fantastic song. I called Taylor and we cut the drums in his home studio.

‘Hopefully, the people making the next Bond film can listen to my record and appreciate the potential I have to create an incredible Bond song.

He also said he’d like another crack at writing a hit for the franchise: ‘I’ve got another up my sleeve.

‘I’m waiting for the call because I know it’s going to happen.’

Lana Del Rey previously revealed that she too wrote a song titled 24 for Bond that was rejected. Sam Smith’s hit Writing on the Wall was selected for the film instead.

Sam’s song Writing’s On the Wall – the theme for 2015’s Spectre finally took a Bond song to number one in the UK.

Billie Eilish’s No Time to Die in 2021, was the first time a woman landed a UK number one with a Bond theme.

Adele’s Skyfall reached number two in 2012, Madonna’s Die Another Day reached number three in 2002, and Duran Duran’s A View to a Kill reached number two in 1987.

Taylor Swift is the surprise new favourite to sing the next James Bond theme song. Bookies have suggested that following the Eras Tour which is set to end this year, many want to see the All Too Well singer to create a theme tune.

In September, it was speculated that the announcement of the next James Bond actor could be just a few months away.

If rumours are true we could be expecting some news about the next James Bond as soon as next month!
